TCH-Thomas Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Does anyone know if I can backup my Trillian contactlists and if so how? Thanks in advance. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 They are in 'ini' files within the 'Program Files/Trillian/users/default' directory. Eg. The MSN contacts are in msn.ini If you take a backup of all those ini files, I think that should cover you for the contacts lists. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Just make a copy of the users directory. I had an issue with Trillian a few days ago and just dropped the copy over the original and everthing was back to normal. Quote
TweezerMan Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I believe the contact list is actually stored in the Buddies.xml file ('Program Files/Trillian/users/default' directory). Quote
Pendragon Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Thanks guys <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can copy the entire trillian directory from one machine to another, no need to reinstall. I've done this many, many times, just copy it to the new machine, create your shortcut and you're good to go. Quote
carbonize Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Why? All messenger services now store your buddy list serverside so as soon as you connect you will get the atest version sent to you. I rememebr the good old days when ICQ stored it locally, damn that was a pain when you formatted and had to reinstall. Quote

True but by backing it up locally you will not lose any contact notifications, contact notes, or group notes. Considering the amount of contacts that I have and the need to mintain these notes I find it important to back up. Then again some people don't use the features so it would not matter in thier case. carbonize Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 True, I'd sooner forget most of the conversations I have. Quote
