DavidBlezard Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 I tried setting up Outlook to send and recv emails through my domain 'popalockri.com' . I set up the account as POP3 pop=mail.popalockri.com port=110 smtp=mail.popalockri.com port=25 I get errors that says the connection was interupted. OR errors stating the server was found but not responding. Can you help me with the settings. I also tried using Outlook Express Auto Config and tried access via Outlook Express with the same errors. Thanks David Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 I would suggest trying popalockri.com as the pop3 and SMTP hosts (without mail. in front.) Quote
woodygap Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Hi Rick Should a person just use those settings just for this type of problem or should we drop the "mail" in all of our POP3 and SMTP settings? Just cuious Thanks, Woody Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 It generally doesn't matter. I've just seen cases where the mail prefix doesn't resolve with some ISP's DNS as well. Personally I don't use the mail in front of any of my domains for the POP3 or SMTP hosts. Quote
TCH-Don Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 try using mail.domain.ext for both pop3 and smtp check my server requires authentication and set the port to 26 then try checking email and then try sending an email. Quote
DavidBlezard Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 Don, As usual, your ideas solve the problem! Authentication and port 26 did the trick. I tried dropping the mail. prefix and it did not change the results. With port 26 and authentication with or without mail. prefix everything works fine. Thank you It generally doesn't matter. TCH-Bruce Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 More and more Internet providers are blocking port 25 to prevent spamming. Just wish it would work! Quote
