carbonize Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I believe that ASP is only available on windows servers just as VBScript only works on Windows servers. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 No ASP is available on Linux but not here at TCH. You can google for "ASP on Linux" and you will find lots of links. Quote
carbonize Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Just did a google for linux asp hosting and only hosting I found with ASP on linux was an indian company. Quote
borfast Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Search for ChilliASP. It's what it used to be called before Sun bought it. Quote
matman Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Out of curiosity, why would you want to run ASP page specifically on Linux? The only reason I can see to do that would be if you had your own Linux server or if you wanted to use a mix of ASP and PHP or Perl. If you're specifically looking to do ASP, I'd stick with Winders. Guest helpbytes Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 ASP is just another method of scripting and interfacing databases. There is still ASP for linux, TCH-Raul mentioned the one I know off, and for ASP.NET there is the mono project which aims to implement it for the .NET languages, of course, these need to be installed by a host, and, are probably far off being as stable as the real thing, Microsoft IIS and the Microsoft .NET Runtimes.
