nhlee Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Does anyone know what you are suppose to put in the "author" field on page properties? Is this suppose to be the website address? I am having trouble finding my site with the search engine I subscribed to and thought maybe it is because I haven't put anything in the "author" field. Hope someone can help...please Thanks, Lee Quote
TweezerMan Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 If you do not have it, you may want to download the Cute Site Builder User Guide (3.5 MB pdf file), which is available on their support page. According to the Cute Site Builder User Guide (page 126): Author – This is your name, and it will also be added to a Meta Tag.If you wish to use this field, you should enter your name (not the URL to your web site). I am having trouble finding my site with the search engine I subscribed to and thought maybe it is because I haven't put anything in the "author" field. It's possible, but I doubt it. From what I understand, keyword fields do not carry that much importance to search engines (which is where whatever you enter in the Author field would end up). If your site is relatively new, you probably just need to give the search engines time to find and crawl your site. If you want search engines to be able to find your site by your name, I'd suggest displaying your name somewhere on your web pages (in the body of the page, rather than in a meta keywords tag). Quote
Samrc Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 (edited) Author field is for your name, if you choose to use it. Deverill Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 David's right, the meta tags don't count for much with the search engines and the Author tag is totally ignored. It's just there for information if you want to use it. Read our forum at the family forums for Web Site Promotion for more info about getting better placement in the search engines. Quote
