Hello all- I am a pseudo webmaster using TCH for close to a year with no problems. The service is great and I love the options and pricing. :clapping:

Today I was in the cPanel area checking out the script area and I clicked the upgrade button for phpnuke expecting a warning screen with instructions and offers for backups and are you sure questions- I was expecting too much because it just performed the upgrade. :clapping: Stupid me- I am really a dork -- <don't push the red button!> :oops:

After the unintentional upgrade the website is still functional, the information is still there. But I cannot access my admin account. And the modules for the site are not loaded. :thumbup: I have done some searching and researching on this problem but I am still unsure of what I should do to fix it. So far I gather that maybe some files need to be removed and others need to be altered with new code- but I am not sure. :clapping: :huh:

I am not a coder and I am not a strong PHP guy-- but I am computer-able if I understand what the problem is and I have good concise instruction.

Can anyone help me with this?

I have continued to look around and try and understand this issue. I have seen some postings on this problem but no definitive fixes...

I have made a baby step of progress in trying to find the solution. I removed the following code from the admin.php-

global $domainname;

if ($_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']!= $domainname AND $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] !=

"localhost") {

  echo "Access Denied";

  die();

}

This allowed me to get to the admin login prompt. But logging in only brought me this message-

The requested URL /www2/.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

:goof:

Back to the drawing board....

I guess this issue I am having is not a big one for anybody else. :huh:

The good news is that I have made another step in the right direction and got logged in as an admin. :whip:

I needed to add the following line into the config.php-

$admin_file = "admin";

Now I am attempting to add my modules back. :flex:

Hi StormSeeker,

I have never played around with phpnuke so I cannot be of much help with that but hang in there I am sure someone else has seen this issue or at least might be able to assist you with your recovery.

I do want to welcome you to the forums though. :whip:

I seem to have everything but modules. I cannot see the blocks when accessing the website normally. The Blocks Admin shows all blocks as I had them set up before. But the Module Admin area has zero modules listed. So I guess one of my .php files is still missing some code. :whip:

Any ideas? :flex:

cpanel > backup

Then if all elses fails and you have to statr over you can restore your database in the same place.

Can't help with nuke, looked at it once, but seemed too much trouble, and went back to hand coding :whip:

I want to publicly thank Tommy who came to help me- total stranger. :clapping:

He gave of his time, efforts, and talent to help a total stranger. Time that could have been spent with his family, significant other, friends, etc.

He has successfully figured out and fixed what my website problems were after the upgrade. :dance: He is in my book a hero :flex: and God sent. :notworthy:

Thank you Tommy for your help, as I said in my previous email, please don't hesitate to call me if you are ever in Dallas. :thumbup1: :group:

Gotta add my big thanks to Tommy for helping out another complete stranger. I found this discussion via Google and it was exactly the situation I was in. My current (and soon to be former) web hosting service was very clueless about the upgrade process and had no idea how to help me get my site back to full functionality after moving up to 7.6 from 6.8.

Tommy contacted me directly and within about 20 minutes I was cooking again thanks to his sage advice. The online community never fails to amaze me.

Thanks for the generous time and help. You rock!

The problem for both parties is they upgraded their files but did not upgrade the SQL -- Download the latest PHP CLICK HERE do the upgrades to get you to 7.6.

IE: the 6.8 to 6.9 -- then the 6.9 to 7.0 then the 7.0 to 7.1 -- until you

get to the 7.6.. you have to put it in the root directory then direct your

browser (while being login as ADMIN) to http://www.yoursite.com/upgrade68-69.php --- for each one..

I would personally overwrite all the files and change the config.php to your info to make sure all files are up todate.. :)

Wow, how many people has Tommy helped by now? Anyways, +1 to the count. Thanks a million Tommy. I'll definitely be donating to your site once I get my paypal working.
