TCH-JimE Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Hi, Thinking about swapping to this provider but: A ) Do you allow PHPBB boards? If so, is it possible I can install them by meslf without needing to pay? B ) What are the number of similtaneous users it can support? E.g. some hosters say a maximum of 25 similtaneous submissions. C) Maximum size of attachment and box size on email please? D) Do you provide web mail? E ) I already have a .com so how do i go about transferring it and whats the cost? F) If i don't transfer it, can I still have subdomains? Thats all Thanks Jim Quote
rayners Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Okay, here's my understanding. A. Yes, and, in fact you can easily install it yourself through CPanel. Just a couple clicks and you're done. B. I haven't the slightest idea. I'd suggest checking phpbb's site, http://www.phpbb.com C. Unless you set a specific quota for an individual email address through CPanel, my understanding is that it's all part of your total space allotment (i.e. the total space in your account is web space plus email boxes) if that makes any sense. As for attachments, I'd have to ask one of the actual employees that question. D. Yes. http://www.******/webmail/ I'm not sure what the situation is with domain transfers. I think we'll need another guru to answer those questions. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted November 27, 2002 Author Posted November 27, 2002 Hi, The answer to part B can only be provided by the hoster, not by the PHPBB people. I will have to wait for a guru to come around! Cheers Quote
Head Guru Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Hmmm Rayners is a guru hes one of my favorite gurus!!!! Ok this is a two part answer. There is in fact a limit on the number of users phpbb can support, so rayners answer is on target. Check with them for that answer. The second part of the question relates to shared server. I am not sure if that is what your wanting to know. If you go with a virtual hosting account then you would be wise to keep it at around 25-35 max users. If you consume to much CPU time you will effect other users and your account will be in trouble of getting terminated. Big Board users should go dedicated server. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted November 27, 2002 Author Posted November 27, 2002 Hi, Thanks you've answered my question. Anything about the sub-domain one?. Apologies Rayners, I realised what you where after I had sent the post. Cheers Quote
Head Guru Posted November 27, 2002 Posted November 27, 2002 Oh the sub-domains sorry missed that ? Yes you can still have sub's. You only need to repoint the DNS to our servers. No need to spend the $10.95 if its not time to renew, right? Thanks and take care. Quote
