ENASNI TILLER Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I'm trying to set up a forum. Is there templates I can use here when I order my service? I like the design and ease of use on this one. Do I have to buy my domain name before hand or is it included in the silver package? Please help Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Welcome to the forums. This is Invision and it is available on all plans offered here. It will be version 1.2 since that is what is bundled with cPanel. It comes with a default theme that looks similar to this. You can find other themes on different web sites. The hosting plans do not include a domain name. That is a separate purchase and you can do that here or anywhere you like. Quote

TCH-Rob Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 The one that comes with your account looks much like the one here. All you have to do is select it, tell it the name of the folder you want it in and click install. Quote

TCH-Rob Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Log in to your cPanel. The directions are in your welcome letter (domain.com/cpanel). Go to add-on scripts and choose InvisionBoard. Follow the steps and you are done. Quote

TCH-Don Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 If you mean you have the wrong domain name, there is no way to change it, but to register the correct one, unless you can live with the one you have. If its that bad, then I would just go and register the right one and let the bad one expire. But if you mean you have the right domain name but did not spelled the name correctly when signing up for hosting, that is not a problem. Just open help ticket and explain it. Tell them the current one and the new one. They will change your account to use the correct one. Quote

TCH-Don Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Just click the help desk link at the top of this page. Select Technical Support, and after you fill out all the fields, you are prompted to read the faq, just click on submit at the bottom. They will change your account to use the new domain. Good luck in getting a nice domain name. Quote

ENASNI TILLER Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 There are several different ways you can gain access to your cPanel. The first and most obvious is by going to yoursite.com/cPanel. I did that and it says this page cannot be found.?? Quote
marie b. Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 It may seem like a silly question, but have you tried yoursite.com/Cpanel? I've found that Cpanel is case sensitive, and wracked my brain for hours with my old host on how to access it until I tried an uppercase "C." Quote

TCH-Don Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 Did you get a reply to your ticket to change the domain? If so, you can goto the ticket link in the e-mail you received after you opened a help ticket, and select new ticket to ask about the account. But if your account was changed to use the new domain name, you should be able to log in www.yournewdomain.ext/cpanel using the original user name and password from your welcome e-mail. Also when you bought the new domain, did you goto the site where you bought the domain and login and change the nameservers to the ones in your welcome e-mail? Quote

ENASNI TILLER Posted February 5, 2005 Author Posted February 5, 2005 Works now, better get your index page up there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Im not sure exactly how to do that. I figured once I got the invision forum loaded it would show up when you went to the site? Any help for a noob Quote
dcumpian Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 Your index page is the default web page that is loaded whenever a visitor goes to your web address. It typically is a web page named "index.htm". I'm not certain how to get your forum's main page to be your default web page, but I'm pretty sure that you'll have to redirect traffic to that page by editing your .htaccess file. Regards, Dan Quote
