HI,

I told a friend of mine, that he can put his site (a schoolproject) on my site.

So I was thinking of making a FTP-account for him, to his own map.

But now i was wondering, is there anyway that I can set a maximum to that folder? e.g 10 MB??

(BTW: I do not own a reseller account, and im not receiving any money for it, so i guess it is allowed right?)

as always, many thanks in advance

Hi,

Under TCH rules, you may only ever have one website on your account. More then one violates this.

Jim

I already got 3 subdomains, and I am not talking about another account

Free or fee based, you cannot give away your space to a site that is not directly related to your main site. Subdomains of your own account should indeed by sub-sites of your MAIN site. That's the point. I suggest you review the AUP and TOS again.

My bad, Sorry bout that.

OK, ill tell him NO DEAL then

BTW, my own subdomains arent connected to my mainsite either (therefor the 'net' in the domainname) as in my own small network, 3 sites totally apart from eachother, except for 2 things, the fact that i made em, and that their on the same site.

The Acceptable Use Policy Says:

Any site that offers free or fee based accounts under the subdomain of its master account are prohibited. These types of sites severely degrade system performance and are NOT allowed.

Okay, I just want to be sure I understand: I cannot give away or sell any amount of space on my account. (This seems eminently fair--at $4/month, my friends can get their own accounts.)

But, what exactly is meant by 'sub-sites' of your MAIN system? If I make the subdomain, and it is unrelated to my "main site", it seems that would still be permissible, as long as I'm only using the subdomain to simplify my navigational scheme and separate content.

Likewise it seems that it would be acceptable to me to have a family account have subdomains for family members. I am *not* talking extended family here--I'm referring to a subdomain of 1-10 pages for each child. I read the AUP to mean I couldn't give a subdomain to my "little" brother (who is an adult and runs his own business). But I didn't see as preventing me from giving my 7 year old her own subdomain if she wants one.

Is that accurate?

(Not trying to pick nits, but wanting to be sure I have this straight)

I would say common sense might dictate what's acceptable and not acceptable. So, let me give you two examples, and let's see how the legal eagles respond!

Example 1:

Let's say I have a primary domain of www.mysite.com. This web site is for my consulting business. Now, let's say I want to set up a small web site for a non-profit company I do work for. So I create a subdomain under my domain, and call it nonprofit.mysite.com. That's not acceptable!

Example 2:

However, if my web site is a personal one, and I decide to set up certain pages for my wife (wife.mysite.com) and my children (kid1.mysite.com, kid2.mysite.com) for their personal poages - personally, and legally, I don't see an issue with that.

Example 2a:

However, if my wife's page are going to be used for her new hobby of selling deco art frames, then I would have a problem with it.

So mine are ok too then, i mean 3 out of 4 are 'fansites' made by me.

But the one: antiek.evdnet.com, is about my fathers store,

but we do not sell through it, its there just for information, so is this a problerm then???
