Just Curious if people using gmail are using all that storage space. I back up all my recored collecton files to my gmail account. Also have some mp3's that I can listen to any where. Is any one else doing this or are you using gmail primarily for email?

Youneverknow

Since I've gotten my gmail account I've forwarded everything there and to my "main" account. I figure I'll use Gmail as an archive and I can keep the other one cleaned out. As such I have used 5% so far. I'm also experimenting with how much spam gets thru and how well they catch it.

I've been there since June 15 by the way.

I use it mainly as archive or if someone wants send large attachements etc. So far 4% or 8 mb, but I just started to archive so I figure it will become more soon. It will be interesting to actually find out how much in mb that I have stored in other places so far.

I've used it lightly the past few months and upto 3%. When GMail introduced POP3, I've made that my main account so I'll be using that a lot more from now on! I don't really use GMail as an online drive like some people because I have VNC and stuff installed that will allow me to grab files off my home computer wherever I am in the world (my home computer is on 24/7 heh)

from gmail help

If you don't log in to your account for an extended period of time, we'll mark it 'dormant.' After nine months, Google deletes all messages in the account, closes it, and recycles the username. Other free web-based email providers delete dormant accounts after as few as 30 days.

I've been experimenting with Gmail, and I really like the threaded replys and quick response times. The show killer is that the From: must be from gmail.com. I've got my domain, and I only want people to know about "lance@orner.net". I may read the mail from TCH, Yahoo, or Google, but the user shouldn't know or care.
