I have never heard of having to chmod skins for invisionboard and I have installed a few of them on my forum. About chmodding what type of ftp program are you using? Quote
YMe369 Posted March 28, 2003 Author Posted March 28, 2003 The board gives this error: Cannot write to the /home/yme369/public_html/forum/style_images directory, please set sufficient CHMOD permissions to allow this. IBF cannot do this for you. and im using CuteFTP (and the ftp built in in dreamweaver). Quote

If you did an auto install it may not be chmodded right. If you installed it yourself then you should refer to the readme file and find out what the folder "style_images" is supposed to be chmodded to. Also when you upload new styles you upload it into the "archive_in" folder and then you login to your admin panel and go to skins & templates and click Import Skin files, Then you click import on the skin you wish to install. Secondly do u know how to use chmod already or not? Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 28, 2003 Posted March 28, 2003 If you use Cute_FTP I think you can right click on the directory and change the permissions. At least that is the way it works in FileZilla. You should set it to 755 for it to work. Quote
YMe369 Posted March 29, 2003 Author Posted March 29, 2003 lets sort this out: 1, Its the auto-install, from cpanel and i got so far, but it wouldnt 'unpack'... 2. Thanks for the explanation on how to do it Rickvz, but they alrady were on 755, i had to set them all to 777 .? but ive had it with the stupid skins, now they stop at this point "ERROR: Master template set configuration file 'config.php' is missing from this archive, terminating import ". But thanks for the help Quote

But thanks for the help Odd I would go to Invision board website and post a question about this in the forum. They could better help you with your problem. It is weird though I have never had a problem like that before, actually I haven't had any problems with Invision board Quote
YMe369 Posted March 29, 2003 Author Posted March 29, 2003 Well, maybe theres a problem with the skin itself?? but then ill just use the 'default skin'... (too bad) Twisted, may i ask where you found your skins? Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 You might want to double check that the skin you tried to import was made for version 1.0 of Invision. The version installed from cPanel is 1.0.1, I believe. I installed the newest version, 1.1, manually. After reading a post on here of a warning given in the Admin mod, I installed another version via the cPanel and noticed it was 1.0.1. Quote

Ahh, indeed, where I downloaded it from, it says 1.1 Final or sumtin like that. Now i just downloaded IPB v1.1.1, but I dont have a clue on what to do with the ZIP file... Quote
borfast Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 There's a file in the .zip with instructions on what to do. Go to the 'install_guide' directory and open 'install_guide.html'. It should guide you through the instalation without any problems. I've done it thousands of times Quote
