Zach Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Hello, Whenever I send email to a certain person, through any of my TCH hosted domain names, I get this error message (or something similar to it) back: --------- This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim). A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: smpletch@bullseye-dev.com SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<smpletch@bullseye-dev.com>: host mail.bullseye-dev.com [68.20.142.107]: 450 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname, [64.191.45.12]: retry timeout exceeded --------- When I asked him about it, he replied with this: --------- I believe that this error indicates that I cannot do a reverse lookup on your hostname. My email server is set up to be very secure. As part of that security, the server requires the ability to check a hostname to make sure that the message is not falsely reporting its origin. This prevents aliasing and some spamming. Sorry for the problems. I hate to turn this feature off. If this is actually the problem, you may have more email sites have this problem in the future as more and more are turning this feature on. --------- Can any one fill me in on what might be going on here? This kind of stuff is a little over my head. Thanks, Zach Quote
Head Guru Posted March 27, 2003 Posted March 27, 2003 Well I just ran a dig on the IP and Reverse DNS is working fine on that IP. Quote
Zach Posted March 27, 2003 Author Posted March 27, 2003 Could you still explain, in simple terms, what might be going on here? Is this problem most likely on his side or mine? So far his is the only server i've had any problems with. ??? thanks. Quote
