rnmcd Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 I had my password reset and I still can't get in... The error message is: The error returned was: Sorry, you have entered an incorrect password. Please try again. Any ideas? Quote
LisaJill Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 It has nothing to do with your password for the forums; it is a general password and I pm'd you the password for it. =) Quote
nablusi Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 I need the forum password as well. Thank you, Nablusi Quote
LisaJill Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 PM"d nab. for anyone else coming across this, please pm a blue or red name to get the password, and include your URL please =) Quote
betsyrc Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Just curious: what makes one part of the "tch family"? I am a relatively recent (July) subscriber with my site pelicanlife.org hosted by TCH and have been happy with the service, happy with the help I received to set it up. I went today to register a second domain, hoping to get the name before someone else took it (although it is far from earth-shattering a name so probably it is not in hot demand!) Much to my surprise I couldn't log in and then heard from customer service that my e-mail address and site name doesn't indicate that I have an account with TCH. So, I'll be looking elsewhere to register the domain. I provided my password/invoice copy and they're looking into it, but very obviously I am not part of the "family" and am curious what makes one such. Betsy Quote
LisaJill Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Having your site hosted here makes you a member of the family. Note: domain registrations and site hosting are seperate processes - you can easily have your site hosted here while your domain is registered elsewhere (as all of mine are, because well, they have been for years ;p). Does that answer your question? Quote

Does that answer your question? Yes, it does. Thanks! I guess, then, that since my pelican site is hosted here I am a member of the family - even though I don't show up as having an account. (I believe or believed it was also registered here since I transferred it but the records show apparently that it is registered at Tucows which is a mystery to me since before today I had never been to its domain service!) Also curious about the level of family members: distant family, near family, immediate family ... I forget the others. Betsy (invisble member of the family) Quote
LisaJill Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Those levels are just the number of posts that you have on the forums. =) If you post/pm me your domain I can double check your site is hosted here, but just a whois/lookup should confirm that. But if you think you have one hosted here you probably do...? =) Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 pelicanlife.org is hosted here on server 75. It is registered through Tucows. Quote

And I am reassured that my unfinished site pelicanlife.org is still here, as it appeared to be, but stranger things have happened. I thought I had transferred the domain when all I did was change the pointing. Thanks for the family explanation. This is a really fine grouping, a fine family! Is there a listing someplace as to how many posts = friend of family, immediate family and so forth? Hope it's a pleasant autumn there in beautiful Northhampton! Betsy Pelican Project Quote
LisaJill Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 (edited) I'm not sure if there's a breakdown of the ranks (that's what they're called on this software package, I believe). You may just have to post lots to figure it out! *winks* (edit) Northampton is gorgeous - the trees are beautiful right now. I am not looking forward to it getting cold though. TCH-Rob Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 You will make Family friend in 37 posts. Quote
betsyrc Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Thanks, all! LOL, Betsy (-36. although non substance such as this shouldn't count — but that's the New Englander outweighing the Californian in me!) Quote
TCH-Rob Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Hmmmm, I am not from New England and I talk a whole lot of nothing. Wonder what my excuse is. Quote
cajunman4life Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 So let me get this straight (sorry it's early for me)... since TCH is hosting my site for me, I can get the password for the "family forum"? Quote
GroovyFish Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Sure, if TCH is your host, then you can get a password for the Family Only Forum. After a only moderately painful initiation ceremony. Seriously though, just PM a red TCH staff member. Quote
jandafields Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 The Family-forums are reserved for special people only. If you consider yourself to be very very special, PM a mod and they will give you a password if they also deem you to be a special person. Quote

TCH-Don Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Ah nope, thats not his excuse, keep guessing Quote
