TCH-Thomas Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 (edited) I noticed yesterday when receiving a pm that the pop up blocker in sp 2 blocked the window that shows up when receiving pm´s. Does that affect the line to the right of "My controls" that says how many messages we have waiting, too? If not, I am an ignored boy since I know people I am waiting for replys from have been in the forum. Edited September 16, 2004 by Jikrantz Quote
borfast Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 (edited) Sorry, Thomas, I have installed SP2 but since I rarely use Windows nowadays (and much less IE - that pop-up blocker only applies to IE, right?), I really just installed it and came back to Linux, so I don't know the answer to your question And yes, taking care of an operating system I don't use is just one of those Geek Things Anyway, I'm moving this to a more appropriate forum, for organization Edited September 16, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Thomas, I just PM'ed you, see a number? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 Yup, I see it, but no pop up even if I told windows this site is ok. Quote
Bunni Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Thomas, did you get my PM response yesterday? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 (edited) Yep I did, That was when this question hit me. I got some notification in I.E telling me this site wanted to show a pop up and I accepted it. But then I started thinking, "What if people say no to I.E´s question and blocks the pop ups, will the X New Messages also be blocked?". Then some people can get pm´s without knowing. But then again, I received no pop up even if I told I.E that to accept them for this site when Rob tried it. Edited September 16, 2004 by Jikrantz Quote
MikeJ Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Pop up blockers have no affect on the display in the upper right corner that says X New Messages. Keep in mind, too, there are three methods of knowing you have new PM's. The display in the right, the pop up alert (if you have it enabled in your controls) and email (also if you have it enabled in your controls). Quote
Samrc Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 whoops! Thanks for this thread! Thanks for the heads up on pm's. I so rarely get them I don't remember to look for them! I don't have it set for popup or email so I thought I had to go to my control center to find messages. Thanks for reminding me to look UP above the forum... I have some messages I didn't know I had!!! Better go look. -Samantha Quote
