ron@ronkern.com Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Hi, I occasionally can not check email and receive this message: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: xxx@xxxxxxx.com', Server: 'mail.xxxxxxxxx.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR You have exceeded the number of connections you are permitted to make per hour. Please wait a couple of minutes and try again.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 Is there a frequency of email checking restriction at Total Choice Hosting servers? If so, what is the policy? Thanks, Ron Quote
MikeJ Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 There's a limit of 30 checks every hour. You should set your email client to check less frequently than once every 2 minutes (I have mine set to once every 10 minutes). Checking more frequently than every 2 minutes adds an unnecessary load on the server. Quote
idallen Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Is the 30 per hour applied to the entire domain or only per account? In other words, one email address (foo@domain.ca) can check at most 30 times per hour. What about bar@domain.ca? If both foo and bar check email, can the each check a maximum of 30 times per hour, or is the limit now 30 for the two combined, so each can check at most 15 times per hour? Does a domain with 30 email addresses have to limit each address to checking once per hour? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 If I am not mistaken it is per address. I have my accounts set to check about every five minutes on one domain. That means each account checks 12 times an hour. That would limit me to about two accounts yet I have more than that. Either I am breaking the law or it is per address. Quote
AlanV Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I have about 15 accounts (Yes, I use them all) that check every 20 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's per account. Quote
DarqFlare Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 It is per account. I have a domain with.. 8, I think, that I check a total of 12 times per hour (5 minute intervals). Quote
