Virtual Imager Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I have a question for you Gmail users: Does the large capacity mean that you can send and receive large attachments (like large images for example)? I ask because I've had problems sending and receiving even 1.5 meg files... the TCH server times out, I think. Am I to understand that using Gmail I can send these large files and other Gmail users can receive them? Quote
jandafields Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 GMail users can send and receive attachments up to 10MB per email. I've never had problems receiving multi-megabyte files through TCH before. Quote
youneverknow Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I have a question...are the gmail servers backed up reguarly? Can I trust them not to lose my mail? Also to let you folks know...there is a program called gmail notifier that will check your mail every 2 minutes and alert you in your system tray (sorry it only works on windows) you can find it here: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/ Quote
jandafields Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I'm pretty sure that the gmail servers are backed-up regularly. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 theres also an extension for mozilla that adds a gmail notifier into the browser Quote
TCH-Don Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Gmail notifier works in firefox too you get a little notice that slides up from the bottom for a few seconds when you have mail. You can set it to log in automatically and how often to check. Or right click to check now. Then just open a new tab and click on the envelope, and presto! I love firefox  Quote
arvind Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Well if you want GMail notifiers, there's an official one from google http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/ the only problem I've been experiencing is the amount of downtime at GMail. They will really need to get more and more stable servers. All too often I get the "Oops system was too busy" or GMail just won't login ! Quote
