musicfrisk Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I've created a blogger account and can't get the blessed thing to upload a page at all it gives me a useless error message. OK, could one of you, blogger it's so easy types step up and walk me through how to do it right? P.S. What are the other blog provider options? I don't think this one suits me well. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 What kind of error are you getting? Moving to a better forum for visiblilty. Quote
LisaJill Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 If you're hosting an account here you ought to install a local blog option - that will give you maximum control and customization. There is a great thread over in General (What Blog Software or something) by Head Guru where this is all discussed. I personally suggest textpattern - but it depends on your comfort level with xhtml and css =) Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Lisa, I use Blogger and many others hosted here do as well. Depends on what you want out of a blog. And if you are just learning it's pretty easy to pick a template and go. I also have an MT blog. Quote
LisaJill Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Certainly, Bruce, and I've had a blogger account for over a year. But he asked about other solutions. =) Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 You are correct, sorry I jumped the gun with my reply. Quote
politop Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I could really use some help with this. I'm new to TCH and I have a blogger blog. I don't want to change anything but my domain to get rid of the blogspot. Can anyone help? Quote
politop Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I've been searching this site like crazy and can't seem to find an answer. I have a blog on blogger. I have a total choice hosting account. I have a domain name. All I want to do is transfer my blog so I can get rid of the pesky .blogspot.com in my URL. I don't want anything more complicated than that. I'm in the level before basic on this kind of thing. Is there anyone out there with the patience and knowledge to give me a step to step of how I can do this? I'm sure it isn't too difficult. Thanks Angie Quote
TCH-Rob Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Angie, Moving for organization. I dont use this so I cant comment further. I saw your post in the other forum. You dont have to worry about posting multiple times here. Most of us read all the posts as it is. Welcome to the forums. Quote
bellringr Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 You don't need to post the same question in two different places. Setting up a blog on your TCH account is easy, but I don't know how to transfer a blog from Blogspot to a personal domain. You might want to ask that in the Blogger help. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 (edited) Welcome to the family Angie! If you go into your settings in Blogger and select the Publishing tab select that you want to use FTP instead of publishing to blogspot. Before you do that, create an FTP user in cPanel for Blogger to use to publish your site. If you are going to publish to a folder on your website just give the FTP user you create access to that folder. Be sure to create the folder to publish to if that is what you are going to do. If you are going to have the blog be your website you don't need to create any folders. Now go back to Blogger and enter the FTP user name and password you created to be used for publishing. Enter your domain name and path to where you want your blog published. Then set your archive path and publish. That should be all you need to do. I used to use Blogger but switched to Movable Type.
