hatmaker Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 How do I get my Images included in Googles Image Searches? If I search the term (M-43 cap) my site comes up pretty close to the top but I have not figured out how to get any of my sites images to be included in their Image search. Many of my images contain the term (M-43 cap) but are never included in the image search results. I don't know HTML, I use CSB. I thought my metatags were pretty good but I'm missing something! Any ideas? Thanks, Brent Quote
youneverknow Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 hatmaker, I have no idea how google images are searched and indexed. But if I were you I would go to ASK GOOGLE at their google answers web site. You will have to Pay $2 us dollars and sign up and maybe one of their 500 researchers could help with your question. If you do go there I would put it in the Miscelleous categoryas it seems to get more traffic. Here is the google link: http://answers.google.com/answers/main good luck and if you do find out could you post it here in the forum? Thanks youneverknowi Quote
hatmaker Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 Hi Youneverknow, Thanks, I looked at their page and they will want $10. to $15. to answer that type of question, they say that they only answer about 60% of the $2.50 questions. The answers depend on how much you are willing to pay, between $2.50 and $200. They also dont want you to ask any questions about Google! I did some more searching on the web and found several people saying that if you have ALT tags (title or decription) on all your images, they will eventually be picked up by the search engines so I guess I'll be patient. I've had a site for 6 months and Google has visited 477 times so far this month and they are sending a lot of visitors to me but never by an image search. I guess I'll just have to wait a little more! You just never know! LOL Thanks, Brent Quote
Deverill Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 (edited) Hey Hatmaker, I did a quick search and found this site forums.seochat.com/archive/t-9687 where they are discussing the issue. I found it by putting this search term into Google google images get listed Hope it helps! Edited July 23, 2004 by TCH-Jim Quote
hatmaker Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks Jim! I checked it out and now have a couple new things to try. I was not adding the text (jpeg) to my alt tags, this may make a difference, Thanks for the tip! ,Brent Quote
Virtual Imager Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 I think the FILENAMES of your images are more important than the alt tags. If your image is of a sunset, it is important that it be named sunset.jpg instead of image 007.jpg. If you can get even more specific in your file name (eg.. maui_sunset.jpg) that's even better to insure that it is found in a search for "maui sunset" because there are several milliion sunset.jpgs out there (including many by me!). Also, the PAGE names are very important... if your image is on a page named www.youdomain.com/sunsets.html that will help a lot. The page title, description, and keywords all come into play here too, although current thinking, I'm told, is that keywords aren't as important as they once were in terms of indexing and placement. This is not to say that the alt tags, keywords, descriptions, and anything else you can enter and tie to the image aren't important. It all helps. Hope this helps... VI Quote
hatmaker Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks VI, I have good titles on all of my pages and images but didn't include ".jpg" in the image title. I have added it to a bunch of my images today. I hope it will help! I guess I'll have to wait till Google picks them up and keep my fingers crossed! Thanks again, Brent Quote
