Boojum Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 I'd like to add a forum to my site, but have a few requirements: 1) It needs to be free. 2) It should preferably be similar to the TCH forum in general design, but customizable. 3) It should be easy to add and maintain. Now: Is there any such animal? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 This is Invision and it is in your cPanel along with PHPBB I believe. Both are free and both can be customized to ones liking with not too much work. Quote
Boojum Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Thanks, Rob. I'll look into that at my next opportunity—probably this evening. Quote
DarqFlare Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 I'm quite familiar with phpBB. It's nice, I'd suggest it. Quote
Boojum Posted June 11, 2004 Author Posted June 11, 2004 Hmm. Invision or phpBB? Sounds like time for ... a poll. [Cue dramatic music.] Quote
EnS Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 The best thing to do is go to Hot Scripts and navigate to the PHP category and the Discussion Board sub category. There are a hundred or so discussion boards for your like. As always if you need help feel free to shout... Web Dev is my #1 passion. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 EnS, you can install Invision and phpBB right from cPanel and they are both free. Just in case you didn't know. Quote
EnS Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Yea...I love them both BUT my site design prevents me from using them as it requires major change of their coding for me to get it to fit and I dont get much time as it is due to the nagging wife.....(dont tell her I said that) I still love supporting it. Do you all have a support section for people using it or do you refer them to the support forums for their respective sites? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 We answer what we can, and send them to the proper support forums if we can't. Quote
