What should I download from Adobe? There appear to be many options and I don't really know what I need to download and what I can ignore. What about Flash?

they are .gif files that I've used for years. For some reason they are not animating when I insert them into a doc or whatever. When I go to my personal website they appear to be working and yet I can't get them to work on my screen as I type a doc.

I'm not sure what you mean Bruce. I wont drone on about this because I don't presently have the problem. Rest assured I will have the problem when I have to update the program again! Those two files I noted pop up about every 60 seconds whenever I download updates to their associated program. The popup demands a yes or no to being allowed to be part of my start up. Unfortunately the program will not accept the "NO" selection. I finally managed to stop it many hours after the download. I have to assume the popups eventually just timed out.

We have an Ipod. I think it's a Nano. I usually don't bother with their updates because I know it will mean incessant pop ups that I can't stop and the ipod isn't even being used by anyone. Today I weakened and decided to update their latest update ... just because, someday, someone might decide to actually use the Ipod again. WHY did I do that? It's been an hour and the pop ups have never stopped!!! So, I use WinPatrol to control my startup file. I follow their directions for killing the popups if the normal routine doesn't work, which it doesn't. I use kill task and reboot and that is supposed to kill it dead. It is not working!!! They are still popping up. Arrghh! Okay. So what do I do about this? Why on earth would a company like Apple put something so incredibly annoying in their updates? I just want to delete their entire program and throw the IPod down the garbuerator! I'm sure I'm not the only person on the planet who is not happy about this. I'm a little hesitant to try suggestions I find via Google until I've checked with you to see what you recommend. Is there something really obvious that I'm missing? These are the pop up files in question: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe -atboottime When I go into Firefox applications I see a ton of QuickTime plugins in my tools/options. When I check Software Explorer - these two come up. Both say "permitted." Could these be the problem? Currently running programs: Apple Inc. It embarrasses me to admit just how stressed out I got trying to figure out what to do and how to do it when Google Blogger would no longer support FTP. I went from pillar to post and no one could point me in the direction I needed to go to get the answers I needed to switch to a new program. I'd get directions and they would be the wrong directions and I'd end up back at square one, probably making a worse and worse mess of my files as I went. I still had all the paperwork from the time I first dipped my toes into this crazy world of websites and blogging and FTP ... but they might as well have been written in Greek. Tina and Scott on the Help Desk stuck with me and saved my bacon, and did it with kindness and attention to detail. I am very appreciative of their efforts on my behalf and the fact that they did not just give up on my when I told them something did not work. They followed up and got things back on track. Just to let you know: The Help Desk (God bless 'em!) figured out why I couldn't login to upload a new template and IT WORKED! I'm so happy! I now have three different sets of logins to function in WordPress. I've got one for admin, one for support and one to upload templates. Hey, they all work so I'll leave well enough alone! I'm going to play with my new blog now.

Don't know what I would have done without the TCH Help Desk. They are great. I've got a headache that I don't think will EVER go away! I'm so tired of reading endless help files that are totally over my head. I might as well be reading Greek. I'm still messing with WP and trying to set it up the way I want it.

I'd be quite happy to stay here. I've been here for a long time. So if you can help me with answers to my questions so that I can get started on WP ... that's great.

I have decided to transfer my Google blog to Wordpress.com. I need to get some specific guidance before I venture further and actually open a new account with them. I am being re-directed back to TCH for the assistance I require. Accessing WP help forum can only be done if I have downloaded their program. I have a few questions before I take that step. Can I open this new WP account before I sort out how to hang on to my domain name? Can I just open a WP.com account under a temporary name and then transfer my domain name into that account? I've read some of the TCH directions in cpanel about this subject, and frankly don't understand what they are talking about. After reading some of the notes on WP it would appear they host my blog, thus I would no longer require TCH. I've been trying to figure this out for over a week now and I'd REALLY appreciate some clear directions.

I am writing recipes. A couple of measurements like 1/2 and I think 1/4 automatically reduce in font size instead of staying the same font size as the rest of the sentence. What do I have to do to make all of my fractions automatically show up as "fractions" rather than the number/number?

Yes Bruce, that is what I am doing - having my blog published through TCH. I did it this way because I wanted to own my website name. WordPress: Oh dear. Your memory must be as bad as mine. There are a plethora of TCH posts associated to my WordPress experience. That was back when I still had this vision of beautiful web pages. It was such a convoluted process trying to figure out how to work everything I eventually gave up and just reverted to Blogger. Blogger has just been such a delight for me to use. It is almost idiot proof. I will dig up my old WordPress posts and see if I can figure out how it works. Already I can feel my blood pressure rising!

There were several sites listed, most of them already disabled. There were two F-Secure, which is my security system. Issues: It crashes pretty much every time I use it. It's incredibly S L O W Okay, no question, Firefox is better. I use it. Question: The instructions--when I Google it--for reinstalling 8 seem pretty simple. My concern is: Is it really that simple, or could I be messing with something that will turn out to be more convoluted than I expected. Yes, I suppose the problem could be something internal in the computer. Now you're talking waaaaaaay over my abilities.

Hi! I am so fed up with Windows IE 8. It's to the point that it's almost dysfunctional. I leave it as my default only because I've just started using IncrediMail again and it doesn't play nice with Firefox. I just searched uninstalling Vista Windows IE 8. It appears to be a rather straightforward process, but I've had that thought before. What I think I'd like to do is dump IE 8 and go back to 7, which apparently will automatically happen when I delete 8. Actually, having said that, I was never too happy with 7 either. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but my husband's side of the computer does not have the same issues with IE that my side has. Go figure. So, what do you think? Shall I just go ahead and delete IE 8 and let the cards fall where they may ... or ????? I'll wait to hear from you. Cheers! MM
