I do all of that for my website. I guess I need to be more aggessive with my forums. Okay - new question. I have the forum set up from here. Does anyone have an idea for the best way to set up a contest? I thought I would give away a handcrafted beaded lanyard (I make jewelry. The site is for teachers). I want it to be set up so everyone who signs up and posts (is there a way to monitor more than once?) on the forum gets in the drawing. How do I keep track of who signs up? What's the easiest way to put their names into the drawing? Any thoughts?

I don't know what I'm looking for exactly. I cannot figure out how to do what I want to do! I want to allow visitors to submit lesson plans to my site. I want the lesson plans to automatically show up and stay. I want visitors to be able to search through the plans. I've tried creating a form for submission, but I never could figure out where the data ended up! Is there a third party anything out there that can give me what I need?

I've had my forum set up for some time. I get views on the view posts I've made, but I can't get anyone to register and post. My website has gotten over 50,000 hits, but I can't get any registered users on my forums. Any ideas to get it moving?

I think I found what I am looking for. I followed the path of a newsletter I subscribe to and found zinester. I'm going to try them out (especially since they are free). They have a premium account, but I'll wait until I have enough subscribers to justify the cost. Thanks. P.S. The info for driving traffic really is good...didn't mean to sound rude - it just didn't answer my question of the moment.

It appears that there are companies where you can manage your ezine, your customers, and publish it using their templates...but what companies are legit? As far as driving traffic to my site, I'm slowly, but surely coming along. Right now, I'm averaging 200 hits a day...not bad for a 2nd grade teacher...
-
Well...that was interesting information, but how does it relate to publishing an ezine?

I followed the directions in my Frontpage book to have the results of my form sent to my email address (I'm using my yahoo address though). When I get to the end it says my server isn't configured to send email. What do I need to do?

How do you go about it? How do you develop a customer base? Do you use an online company to help?

Truthfully, I don't know what all of those things in my cpanel are or what they me or what I'm supposed to do with them. Is there a "guidebook" of some sort that explains each item somewhere?

I use this all the time to create pdf files. It sure beats buying an expensive program. You simply upload your file and they email you the pdf, then save the file to your computer. It works like a charm! https://www.pdfonline.com/convert_pdf.asp

Do I look in my cpanel for that, and if so where exactly?
-
I figured it out quite by accident! I turned guest off thinking I was keeping them from posting, but I was just keeping guests from viewing. Got it fixed. Thanks anyway...

This is weird...in my admin panel my categories and boards are there, but when I go to my forum, all but one is missing. What's up with that? Also, I set up no posting by guests. Posters must be validated by email and put the security box (that code thing) on medium. This is suppose to keep out the computer spammers? Is there anything else I can do? I haven't attached it to my site yet. I want to work out the bugs first. Thanks.

So I created forms, but it didn't occur to me that I need to know how to collect the information from the forms. How do I do that? And does anyone know how I can do this... Create a form. Person fills out form. Information in form is automatically posted to website. (Think: teachers post lesson plans)

I tried the php script in cpanel for a forum. It certainly looked nice. Two major problems though. (1) No instruction manual. I had a hard time figuring out how to manage the forum. (2) SPAM big time. I was getting thousands upon thousands of computer generated spam a day. So if I could solve those two problems, I would be happy to use the php script in cpanel. But if there is a better way - an inexpensive service or software or something to help a novice set up a nice forum (registered users only and big time spam blocker), I am interested. I'd like something user friendly (the for "dummies" version). Any suggestions? Now on to auctions. I would eventually like to set up an auction service. It would be small (I'm not trying to be ebay here). It would be a place for teachers to buy and sell classroom materials from each other. I would need something easy to install, easy to manage, and well...just easy. Any ideas? Forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum...

I'm starting to average a 1000 hits a week on my website. How does the traffic effect your site (I can't think of the right word(s) here.)? I've heard people say that they got so many hits their site couldn't support it and their host would shut them down until they upgraded. I don't get that. How does that work? How many hits does it take before you need to upgrade, or is that just rumor?

I want to buy a domain name, but I'm not ready to set up a hosting account yet. I still have some work to do. Where do I go to get the domain name?

The Cpanel should come with a book for dummies... I don't know what the majority of the stuff in there is for.
-
Ugh...that sounds too complicated! I'll just keep plugging the free referrals!
-
It was right back up again after I asked. How did you know it was on server 119? That's good to know. Thanks.
-
You guys get to many free referrals from me. Do you have an affiliate or resell program?
-
My site is not coming up. How do I know which server it's on so I can see if there are issues or maintenance?
-
Please look at this website and tell me how I can set something similar up on my website: It's www.ilovethatteachingidea.com How do I create a submission form? How do I create a directory of lesson plans?
-
I used the forum that you set up through cpanel. I think there is only one (at least that I know of). I don't recall what it's called. I wish it came with a users for dummies manual...lol!

I was reading through the list in cpanel to see what's available. I was floored to see that you can have your own auctions! That is so cool! So I'm thinking...I would love to have a "Teacher Auction" section on my website. BUT, I've learned to learn before I jump in. Does anyone have a website using the phpuauction? What do I need to know first? Where should I go for support? Any advice for running an auction site? Please fill me in on anything you've got. Thanks!
