  1. I clicked on Publish. The box came up. I typed in my domain name www.name.com. I got a message that said it couldn't find the server. I called this morning and checked that I've been totally "propagated." Am I typing the wrong thing in the box? HELP!
  2. 1. OT - How do I know when my domain name has finished "propagating"? 2. I read the HELP instructions in FP for publishing. Which ones do I follow - the ones for publishing in FTP or the ones for publishing using HTTP? 3. The directions say I need to know the file path and server name. I'm not sure what to look for. 4. When I click publish, I understand that I'll be able to select which pages to publish. That's good. I have more pages set up than ready to go. As I'm working on the other pages to get them ready - do I just go into FP as usual and save as usual, and then when I ready to publish more pages, click publish and go through the same process again? FP page issue - When I first started in FP, I begain with a new page. I saved the first page and opend another new page. The 2nd new page never looks right in viewed. I've also had link troubles between the first two, but that seems to be working out now. When I made the third page (and every page after), I did it by hyperlink. All of those pages seem to be doing much better. Should I use hyperlink from page 1 and recreate page 2? Would that fix it? The text gets messed up each time. I've tried removing the text and doing it over. I've tried highlighing and changing font and size. The other pages with the same buttons and text look fine, so I don't know what's up w/this page. Any suggestions?
  3. I guess patience isn't my middle name right now because the email came! So now - can someone point me to step A? What do I do first to get up and running? I have FP 2000.
  4. From the info. on your site, I was under the impression that you could be up and running withing 12 hours. When I signed up this morning, the email said it could take up to 36 hours? What's up w/that? I haven't heard anything? What takes so long? When can I reasonably expect to be able to get online?

    Normal Vs Preview

From your example, I believe everything is relative links. Whew! That scared me! I thought everything was seriously messed up! The thing is - I'm developing this site as part of an online grad course assignment (no help there) as well as a classroom site, but for my class, I have to have it done by next Thursday. Not done as in every page finished, but done as in some pages finished and up and running, so I'm on a panicked deadline. Thanks for your help. That makes me feel much better.

    Normal Vs Preview

I did a preview in browser. I have links that work fine in normal view, but when I click on them in the browser view I get a "page not displayed" page. What's up w/that?
  7. Okay...how do I do a contact form?
  8. I've been working in Normal view. When I clicked on Preview, my fonts and words changed some (not for the better either). Which view will I actually see once I publish?
  9. I think I'll be ready to set up w/in a few days. I'm going to be under construction all summer as I build depth to my pages. I have some pages ready to go. I'm still not sure which package I should sign up for. By the end of the summer I anticipate at least a hundred pages (or more). I have graphics on every page - banner, buttons, small graphics - nothing outrageous. I would like to add powerpoints - I have one ready to go. I would like some advice about which package. I get an email account, right? If I want this to be the email that's attached to my email button, is there a way to "hide" my email address from spammers?

    Internal Hyperlinks

The links work now. Go figure. They'll probably be broken again tommorow. No, I don't have it online yet.

    Internal Hyperlinks

I think I understand what you mean. I'll try viewing it. Thanks!

    Images

I have graphics (buttons and banners) on each page that I got off the web. I think this is happening -everytime I edit a page and click save, FP saves the images again, but I don't think it's overriding what was already there. In other words, my image folder is chalk full. I moved all of my images to the image folder to clean up the documents folder, but as soon as I hit save, the documents folder is full of images again. How can I keep all that cleaned out? Will this cause me problems when I go online?

    Internal Hyperlinks

I have one big problem that I want to solve before I sign up - links. Maybe you techie folks can help me (it's probably one of those duh things). My links between pages keep breaking. I fix them. I save them. They work. And then they break again. It's driving me crazy. I don't feel comfortable uploading to the WWW until I understand (and fix) this problem. I'm using Frontpage 2000. I click on the item that I want to act as a link (small graphic button w/text). I click on hyperlink. I click on the place I want it to go. I click ok. It works, and then later on everything breaks again. This question may be above and beyond - but I imagine it would indicate your level of service (or not).

  15. This will be my first website. I'm in the infant stage of development. I'm looking at your company because you indicated that you support Frontpage. If I'm using Frontpage, can I anticipate any problems? Do you provide telephone support? If you don't have telephone support, do you have live chat support 24 hours a day? Can you explain to me how I would go about uploading my website? Do you have a place on your forums where I could ask "dummy" questions about Frontpage? I'm still learning... I saw another post that you support adult sites. My site is a classroom site that would have a link to my school and school district. Will my site get blocked through their filters? Do you set up auto pay for each month, and if you do, can I work it out to hit my account during a certain time period? If I want a domain name, should I register for the domain name first and sign up for hosting next? Can I do it at the same time? This may sound like a dumb question to you techies, but, how do I edit pages once my site is up and running (or add new pages)? Please be patient, I'm on the learning curve here (the bottom end of it). How do I know which package is right for me? I can see my site exploding into 100-200 pages once I get everything on it + I would eventually like to add PowerPoints (available for download for teachers). Currently, I would consider this a personal website, but eventually, I want it to become a commercial site (I write, present, etc.). Is there something different that you need to do between personal and commercial or does it even matter? I have one big problem that I want to solve before I sign up - links. My Frontpage for Dummies book and I are building this website. Please be patient and please answer in less than technical terms.
