  1. One other thing.... If I change the domain password, do I need to change the passwords for the email boxes? In other words, is the domain password enough to protect the email boxes? Thanks again, queenpictoria
  2. Thanks very much, Gentlemen!!
  3. Thanks Tim. How do I set it with something I'd like to use? ???
  4. Good Morning, I need to know the procedure to change my password to my domain. My email account has been breeched via an eBay vandal. My account was taken over, and they have used my account to send fake emails to previous bidders promising them Second Chance offers. When the person unwittingly responds, one man was fleeced for nearly $1000.00 dollars. The crooks are very convincing. I have changed my password for eBay, and they suggest I change my password for my domain. I know how to change the passwords for my email boxes, but I think they're suggesting more stringent measures. Can anybody point the way??? My sincere appreciation! queenpictoria
  5. Hello Thomas, Sometimes the people who write the instructions assume certain knowledge by the reader. I am still hunting down the password. I only use one or two, so I cannot be too far afield. Just to update, I am trying to open my Thunderbird email client. I have one account setup in there so far with my main email address. I try to download email, and I get the "username/password mismatch" window. I am working on discovering where I set up my password. I thought I had unwittingly deleted my Documents & Settings folder. It looks as though I did not. However, it is not obvious what I should do, even though some of the instructions say it is so. --- This page: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/p...words_help.html says: "Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Under the Privacy & Security category, choose Web Passwords. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.)" So I look in the Edit menu and there is no "preferences" in the drop-down list. I could go on with the instructions, but when this happens either I am very close, or way off. This is very humbling. I think I am going crazy. I also looked in my "Documents and Settings" file. I found no profile folder. I found files that I cannot read. There is a file called "profiles configuration settings", and this is all there is there: [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/s4o0bfm2.default I don't understand this and I don't want to screw up my computer. I did use the password I use on the email inside the cPanel on TCH, and it did not work. Maybe there is no password set somewhere.?.?.? That tutorial just isn't simple enough for me. I'll do more work and let you know what happens. I don't give up so easy. It is a bit humbling because it appears that the information is all there, I just don't see it. Thanks, queenpictoria
  6. Hello. I am working on getting a place to backup my computer and store some of my files. What is better: Burning DVD's or Storing on an External Hard Drive? Thanks, queenpictoria
  7. Hello Bruce. Well, I must have deleted my Documents and Settings. I just updated XP so I really can't believe I did that. I am embarrassed, but hopefully someone else does this too. I really don't like being coddled. I am a bit unnerved!!!!! ArghHHHHHH. Any suggestions? I've had this new computer and XP for about 6 months now and am still adrift. Maybe I need to reformat my hard drive, eh? I'd settle for something more tame. Thanks, April
  8. I believe that begins through the START button. I'll give it a try and report back. Thanks for being there. queenpictoria
  9. Hello, Cooler heads are prevailing today. I am thankfully beginnng to install my Thunderbird Email Client. Of course, I always fall off when I first get on, so now I have messed up my passwords. I don't remember if I typed in a Master Password. It isn't asking me for one, so I probably did. I found the password location, but I can't move through it. Perhaps the best way is to uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall it so I can start from scratch. Does this make sense? Thanks, queenpictoria
  10. Hello Thomas, I've taken a run at Thunderbird. It looks like there are plenty of tutorials for help. Thank you. I have installed it and am configuring it. I put in the first email that is parked on TCH. I put in a password and it comes up and says, "Username/Password Mismatch". So my question is: Does my password need to correspond to a password on TCH or on my cPanel? How do they hook up? Thanks, April
  11. Hello. I uninstalled MS Outlook and installed it again. I wasn't sure I was going to use it. Right now I need an email client and I have some apprehension about the alternatives. I know I don't want OE for a client. I suppose I can switch at some point, but I am afraid I am stuck on the namebrand of Microsoft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Question 1: Does Windows XP Home have a copy of MS Outlook in it? That seems like a stupid question to me, but I really don't know. I got an OEM copy with my computer from Dell and there is no real manual that came with it. Question 2: I need to download some of my emails from my website domain. I have more than two separate emails that need to go into separate mail chutes. I went to cPanel and pressed the Auto-Configure switch on one of the emails. The darn thing won't open up. It says it has no reference on what is coming from where. ???? I think I need to set up the configuration manually. Is there a basic instruction list I can work from? I am not that experienced with setting up email configurations. I did it with Earthlink, but that was over a year ago, and I am on DSL now. My main concern is messing up my email or losing some of them in the learning process. Once I get it hooked up and learn how to work with it with more than one email, I can probably take it from there. One other question: In order for the different emails to go into the correct "folders" or whatever they are called, do I need to do filtering, or will the client and domain work with each one separately? Reality greatly appreciated, queenpictoria
  12. Thanks for the encouragement, Steve. You guys are really great. Happy Thanksgiving!
  13. Thanks for your help. I wish I could know more about things like this before they happen. I'll take some time and revue the cpanel and my email. I've been very upset about this, and it is just a fear of losing clients. They haven't been able to reach me or sent me emails I didn't know about. Then they wonder what's up with me. Your tech support is very helpful. queenpictoria
  14. Hello. My email is not working on a couple of my email boxes. I have sent a trouble ticket, and they told me to check my Cpanel and see where three of my email boxes have exceeded their allocated space (usually 10 mb each). Would exceeded space usage cause emails to not be received? I was told I could monitor that on my Cpanel, but it is not evident to me. If anybody knows, I'd appreciate it. Happy Holidays! Thank you, queepictoria
  15. Hello, I am learning tons about optimization on my website. I am still building some of the sections and get new ideas all the time. There is still a time to stop and do major traffic. What needs to be done before a reliable SEO System can do any good? I have a site map, and taken precautionary methods for securing certain files in my domain. What else ought I to do? I know all of them cannot be listed, but I am open to just a few suggestions to help me cover my basic bases. Thanks, queenpictoria
  16. I am having one of my webmaster coaches help me sort this out. Thanks for listening. queenpictoria
  17. Hello Rob, What do you think of this page? Queen Pictoria's Menagerie The links are all related, but it was my first effort at laying out banners. I wanted to make it easy for anyone buying pet supplies to find what they need. Is it too much? Thanks very much, queenpictoria
  18. In doing research into engine submissions and such, I have come across the term "Link Farm". What is a "Link Farm"? How many links does it take to make a "Link Farm"? Perhaps I am too enthusiastic about my affiliate banners...???? I want to learn to practice prudence. Thanks, queenpictoria
  19. I have done all the instructions above, and get a list of items that say "suceeded" which I would guess means I succeeded. On these types of script installations, do I now need to go in and submit each link into the system or is that already done? If it is already done, how do I monitor it? This is the program I have installed in MySQL on my domain: http://www.elitelinksnewsletter.com/linktraderpro/ These are the "simple instructions". They are a lot like what you folks have told me to do. It is like a cliff-hanger...what do I do now? http://www.elitelinksnewsletter.com/linktraderhelp.html Please forgive is this is outside the scope of the forum. I just don't know where to go with this. I am outside my comfort zone. Thanks, queenpictoria
  20. Hi David, Thanks for your reply. I tried to look the word "prepend" up and could not find it. It just seems important that I know what to do with my cPanel username in addition to adding "_" to the database name and database user name. Probably just a typo. Do you mean "prepare"? Thanks, queenpictoria
  21. Hi Again... I have gotten as far as uploading the files and CHMODed these folders/files/ to 777: install.php /admin/backups/ /lib/ Now I am running the self-installation file through the File Manager in my cPanel because my FTP will not open up the file for me. I got to this screen: Link Back Url: http://www.queenpictoria.com Admin Username: queenpi Admin Password: use password for entering TCH Database Username: queenpic Database Password: password used when setting up database Database Name: LinkTracking Database Host: localhost Can you make sense out of this? Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'queenpic@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/queenpi/public_html/LinkTracking/install.php on line 132 Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/queenpi/public_html/LinkTracking/install.php on line 132 Perhaps I need to contact support. What do you think? I've gotten this far.. Thanks, queenpictoria
  22. Thomas, Do you mean after I upload the software, I set permissions? April
  23. Hello Thomas, I thought I did that when I set up the user and password. What did I miss? Is there a primer I can read on this? It doesn't look like rocket science. Thanks for your reply, April
  24. Hello Bruce. I have done everything but the last step. Do I upload all the links I have collected, or do I upload the Link Trader Pro software first? I am assuming that I will automatically understand the changing of files/folders to 777 using the FTP program. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Thanks, queenpictoria
  25. I see your sig file. Thanks.
