  1. I personally like vim, but it doesn't meet your requirement of requiring minimal HTML knowledge.
  2. On server 16, where my hosting resides I get: Version: ImageMagick 5.5.5 03/01/03 Q16
  3. As I understand it, all of us get truncated to 7 characters automatically when the hosting account is created. I got truncated to twowhee . It always makes me laugh Whee!!!
  4. Works fine here in Opera 6, WinXP, dialup connection.
  5. OK, so that's basically what it says in the help when you add an FTP account. The problem is, since everybody's private FTP directories go under the public_html directory, that gives the web designer complete access to all private ftp accounts as well! Admitedly, I didn't make this portion of my question clear in the first post -- sorry.

    Asp?

Searching the help I found this: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/asp.html But, I can't seem to find any links to that page... so, is the information in that page still correct? I can't search for ASP in the forums because search terms must be 4 characters, but ASP + something else doesn't come up with anything! Thanks!
  7. Phew... though I still don't have my answer, I escaped the watchful eye of KW this time!
  8. First, I'd like to let Mr. Maintainer of the FAQ know that I searched the help pages before posting this! Is it possible to have somebody else doing my web site maintenance and give him FTP permissions to make changes, but not give him access to the whole whole site cpanel? I see how to give access to subdirectories, but not the whole site. Thanks!
  9. Thanks KW... In the back of my mind I was afraid somebody would tell me to read the FAQ.
  10. Doh! It doesn't give that option to the main account holder, just sub accounts. Haha... OK, I see it now! Thanks for the screenshot Lianna... when I first saw that I *KNEW* I couldn't have overlooked that!
  11. Thanks for the reply, but I must be blind... I don't see a change password option... I see the option to chose NeoMail or Horde, but after choosing Horde I can't find any such link.. hrm...
  12. I'm creating e-mail accounts for individual users under my domain, but I can't seem to find a way that each person can set their own password without coming to me to do it. Is there a place that they can sign in and get limited cpanel type functionality? Thanks!
  13. I keep getting certificate warnings when trying to send mail through my SMTP account... is this due to the domain name being my private domain, but the server & certificate being registered to TCH? I use Mozilla mail if that matters.
  14. Oh, duh. I didn't see that! --Thanks Lianna
  15. ?? -- To which post were you referring? I definitely don't work for Opera, nor W3C.
  16. I'm sure a lot of people haven't. Opera is probably about the 3rd most popular browser out there. It has a very nice user interface with a whole bunch of shortcut keystrokes & mouse strokes/gestures. What I like about it the most is that it's a MDI (multiple document interface), thus all of your browser windows are contained in one window with tabs at the bottom to control them. I go back and forth between Opera & Mozilla as my favorite, with Opera keeping a slight lead. W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium. They're the guys who define the web standards. They have a web site for validating HTML files at validator.w3.org
  17. If they can't even get their home page to look right in Opera, then I doubt I'd trust them to do what they claim. They claim to provide assistance in solving HTML errors, yet their pages are not standards compliant according the W3C validator.
  18. I've only looked at the front page, and it looks good (before the placements of the graphics & links was somewhat haphazard) IIRC . Anyhow, I did notice one thing, you seem to have missed a space: > This highly reliable operatingsystem brings you the best in up-times, security and speed.
  19. Both pages look the same to me in IE 6 on WinXP SP1 as well as in Opera 7.
  20. I don't work for TCH, so I can't comment on their future pricing plans, but to answer your other question, they make it very easy to install phpBB on your site with just a few clicks, and apparently many people have installed this forum software (Invision) without too much difficulty as well.
  21. Hmmm... I guess appearance is subjective. I like the default theme.
  22. I don't know about quota, but for permissions I suspect that you would use the file manager (link at the top of your cpanel) to change the permissions of each individual directory or file.
  23. I think I might have found an answer for you! Click on tools, internet options, advanced tab, and scroll down to the bottom of the HTTP section to find a checkbox that says: Use Passive FTP. Here's what the "What's this" box says... Specifies to use passive FTP, which does not require your (local) machine to know its Internet IP address. Some network configurations will only work with passive mode turned on, while others will only work with passive mode turned off. This feature allows you to select which mode to use for compatibility with your network settings. Most network configurations will support both modes. The passive FTP mode is considered more secure.
  24. Do you, by chance, have access to another computer? As I mentioned, at home w/ Win XP (no service packs installed) I cannot access my files with IE either. Yes, XP (service pack 1) does work. There were probably some changes to Internet Explorer during that time.
  25. The directories that you show are the ones for the anonymous ftp user. Maybe you could try turning off anonymous ftp access in your cpanel and see if that works... on the cpanel, top right box is "ftp", 2nd option is "anonymous setup", uncheck "allow anonymous access"
