  1. This is great -- thanks
  2. Anybody use fetchmail here at TCH? I've got the retreive part down, but can't get the mda to work properly.. Exim or Sendmail or procmail -- all will work, but all require different tweaks. Can someone who has it working share the "out" part of their .fetchmailrc? Thanks, Todd
  3. Glad I found this thread -- I have the same problem. Oddly, when I changed the auto-acknolwedgment text to read: "your post has been received and is being distributed", the problem became more random -- it now occurs 50% of the time, roughly, with no discernable pattern. In fact, some people will get the "good" ack message, followed by the "huh" ack message! And as someone said, the good news is that the messages still go out! I'm just turning off auto-ack until this gets fixed, which is easy enough.
  4. On the old Server 10 we were at version 4.0.13 Now, the new Cpanel reports that we are at version 3.23.56 Hmmmmm
  5. that's just soooooo cool. Cpanel never ceases to amaze me -- thanks, guys for explaining this great feature! TC TCH Rocks
  6. First, I love the great stat packages here at TCH -- they are all I need to manage my sites, and all I will ever need! Great stuff. BUT.. I have clients that I don't want to give Cpanel access to (they'll hurt themselves), yet I want them to be able to see their site stats. I've seen some 3rd party site statistics services (free, I think) that you can install yourself and people go to the 3rd party site to view the stats. Anyone know of these? Can you recommend them? Come to think of it, I think David Raynes uses one on his site....looking...well, it isn't there anymore, but I thought he had one... Thanks, gang! Todd TCH Stones
  7. Jim, Testing a bunch of things here. May be working now that I've deleted and re-created. I'll report back. Thanks, Todd
  8. http://go.vcrbiketeam.com Notice that http://www.vcrbiketeam.com/go/ works fine, but this subdomain isn't even showing up on the TCH name server...
  9. Solved by Bill Gish: permissions on index.cgi were 644 -- once chmoded to 755, everthing was happy!
  10. Wanted to create a subdomain so that users could simplify what they type. 1. used Cpanel to create subdomain 'go' at **** --> go.**** 2. figured it would take some time for that info to propagate to my ISP, but when it still hadn't come across 12h later.. 3. used an IP lookup tool and see that even the TCH nameserver doesn't have info on the subdomain: http://www.kloth.net/services/nslookup.php ----snip---- ... here is the nslookup result for go.vcrbiketeam.com from server ns3.totalchoicehosting.com : *** server18.totalchoicehosting.com can't find go.vcrbiketeam.com: Non-existent host/domain Server: server18.totalchoicehosting.com Address: 66.11.162.138 ---------------- If I go to www.****/go/ everything works as intended -- the problem appears to be with the subdomain information making it to the name server, then out to other name servers. Alternate explanations? Suggestions? Can someone see if Cpanel not telling the name server about these subdomains? Many thanks, Todd TCH Rocks
  11. I wanted to set up a redirect using perl, rather than using Apache. I've used this kind of redirect elsewhere, but it fails here: 500 error. #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type: text/html\n"; print "Location: http://www.vcrbiketeam.org\n\n"; exit; Any ideas? Thanks TCH Rocks
  12. Alan, Bill and the team FIXED THIS PROBLEM today! try uploading a pic to your MT and se if the thumbnail works (they had to patch all the servers with PerlMagick). Mine works great (on two separate servers). Thanks to all for your awesome help on this! Todd Curry
  13. David, you rock! Todd
  14. Image::Magick is installed on your servers, but there may be a configuration problem -- or rather, there IS a configuration problem so far as Movable Type is concerned. When uploading an image through movable type, MT detects Image::Magick (happy, happy, joy, joy), so it gives you the "create a thumbnail page". When you enter in the appropriate information and click enter, the server blows a gasket: >Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin@totalchoicehosting.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.27 Server at server10.totalchoicehosting.com Port 80 Can you guys take a look at this? I know some other MT users have been baffled by this MT/I::M conflict. When I::M is configured properly, and plays nicely with MT, it is just fantastic (I have MT installed at another site on another hosting company). I can tell you that if I can get this to work properly HERE, that hosting company is history and you'll get another account from me . Most gratefully, Todd Curry
  15. The term product refers to your offering whether that be a paid or free membership area of your site. You can look into it at: http://www.cgi-central.net/scripts/amember/ There is a free version as well, but doesn't support the broadcast mailing. Lianna Lianna, we've tried a few programs out there and Mailman does 110% of what we want and need. Mojomail is a close second, and it, too, is open source. Thanks
  16. Yes, exactly -- and that script you posted might just do it! This needn't be 100% secure, just casually secure. Looks like I'll have to alter the script a bit (with rusty perl) to handle the hosting env here, but glad it is doable. By the way, David, you are the reason I moved my hosting over to TCH -- your MT blog talked about Mailman at TCH, and a quick call to your mt-check.cgi confirmed that Image::Magick was installed on their servers, so boom: I found 90% of what I was looking for in one fell swoop. I told TCH that you were the reason I joined, btw. Anyway, thanks for your help -- both here and in your blog Todd
  17. Is it possible to tie mailman username/passwords to .htaccess for the site? I'd like to set up individual passwords for both, without having to enter hundreds by hand. Any thoughts? Thanks, Todd Curry
