Coincidentally I tried Fielzilla just prior to getting your message. I can't figure out why, but it uploaded several times faster and it did not have errors. How can just using a different FTP program increase speed and reduce errors? Anyway, thanks for writing.
-
I might have to give that a try. Thanks.

I switch back and forth between PASV and not PASV each time the FTP'ing fails...even though I don't really know the difference between the two are.

Quite often when I try to upload a large number of files (e.g., vBulletin) to my account via FTP, I get an error in SmartFTP (approx. 10 minutes into the transfer) that states something to the effect: Host failed to open connection or Host closed connection. Any ideas why this might be? Edit: It just happened again. Here is the message in SmartFTP: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Is there a way I can determine definitively if they are installed on TCH Servers? Thank you.

I am looking at having a website script developed for me and one programmer told me that my server will need ffmpeg and ffmpeg-php installed for the script to work. Any idea what those are?
-
Support said they don't suppot ADOdb. Does that mean they just won't provide help or that I can't install it on my site because it is against TCH policy?

I was emailing back-and-forth with a programmer and he said he would like to use PHPADODB for a website that he MAY design for me. Any idea what that is and does TCH support PHPADODB? thanks.

A pre-sales question can be submitted via a help desk ticket? What do I use for my cpanelUsername and password if I haven't opened an account to which this question pertains?

I was just curious if there is a max mysql connection limit on the shared servers? I am going to be moving a vbulletin forum from (slow)go daddy. For those of you with vbulletin forums on a shared server how are things here? Thanks

Is the credit/refund process for converting from prepaid virtual accounts to resller accounts different than with a non-prepaid virtual account?

I ended up trying both methods and, in my case, it turned out that uncompressing the home directory backup and then uploading the needed directory was quicker. Thanks!
-
I will do that. But out of curiousity, if I backed up the full home directory am I able to unzip it and find the subdirectory that I want restore? I am not familiar with .gz files.
-
What would be the best way to backup and restore only a single directory? I see that, via cpanel, I can backup the entire home directory but, at this time, I only need to backup a single directory prior to making some changes...if the changes cause me more problems than I anticipate I will want to restore only that single directory. How best to accomplish that as well? Thanks.

I have been trying to upload files via SmartFTP and I keep getting this message: Any idea where I can troubleshoot this? Thanks.

Paul, any idea what google does with the stats they get from your site?

Yes the modem is connected to the WAN port on the router. The router points to the DNS servers that my ISP gave me. I just assumed the network cards pointed to the router because I have it set for them to get DNS automatically via the TCP/IP properties. I'll check to make sure though.

OOOPS!! After I bought a new router I also upgraded to high speed. Sorry for forgetting to mention that.

It happens everytime I go to any site for the first time. This is the same desktop and laptop that I wrote about in "home network problem" thread. The only thing that has changed is that I have replaced the router and wireless card in the laptop. This double-hitting of the website that I am now having a problem with happens on both the desktop and laptop.

That's one of the few things I'm sure of. I live in a rural area and the nearest house is 1/4 mile away. I don't think they have even have a computer.

I just installed a new Linksys wireless card along with a wireless Linksys router. For some reason when I try to access a website, it times out. Then when try to access the same website (just seconds later) it loads very quickly. It shows I have a strong signal. Do you have any idea what would cause me to need to 'hit' the site twice in order for the site to load?
-
There aren't any yellow or red "X" in the device manager. I have already called Linksys support 3 times and they said they have never heard of the problem. I will check out their support site.

I used a U.S. Robotics wireless card prior to this and I uninstalled all of the drivers prior to installing the drivers for this. I do believe I installed this according to the instructions provided by Linksys. Could it take that long for it to assign a DHCP address?

I just installed a Linksys Wireless-G card WPC54GS and it causes my laptop to hangup during the booting process....about 10 minutes. If I take the card out of the laptop and reboot it only takes about 1 minutes to get to my desktop. Any idea what could cause this? The laptop seems to run fine once it gets fully booted with the Linksys card installed.

I ended up unistalling all related software, driver, and router-related hardware then reinstalling. Still can't get it to work. I bought a linkys router and wireless card today and installed it. I can ping everything! Laptop, router, and desktop. I would like to thank everyone for their attention to this matter. I learned quite a bit during the troubleshooting!
