Smtp Servers Not Resolving Hostname Properly
webmedic replied to webmedic's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Guys I already now that my point was the app doesn't work properly or to put it nicely is broken with some user agents. I'm not looking for a solution. And I know how toget to the link at the top of the page. I've been building servers and webpages longer than probably most of the people working at this place. Thanks for trying to help though. I was rather hoping that maybe it would generate some talk with the makers of the app so that it could be be fixed. You know it's no so much how I can get arround the issues as it is that the app was not programmed proeprly to begin with or else it would not have issues with other browsers. I have written my apps to work accross all browsers. It's not that hard it just takes a programmer who desides to do a better job. Besdies you should try to have to work arround ie it's very much painfull. -

Smtp Servers Not Resolving Hostname Properly
webmedic replied to webmedic's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I really hate that thing but ok. For some reason it doesn't handle cookies right and always logs me out and then I cant get logged back in. I've been building sites for about 8 years so I dont think it's operator headspace error either. -
Is there a way to fix this? I have been on this mailing list for years and since moving to these servers they reject all my mail. Now i know they do this to cut down on spammers and I like that. But the totoalchoice servers should have properly resolving domains. Here is the error. It's just one of many but a good example: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its recipients after more than 72 hours on the queue on server68.totalchoicehosting.com. The message identifier is: 1BxpbM-0000NX-6i The subject of the message is: Re: [Cooker] RoadMap, where are we ??? The date of the message is: Thu, 19 Aug 2004 09:17:24 -0700 The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is: cooker@linux-mandrake.com Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<cooker@linux-mandrake.com>: host smtp.mandrax.org [212.85.147.169]: 450 Client host rejected: cannot find your hostname, [209.51.137.10] No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up, and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.

thanks for the gmail swap links. It worked and pretty quick also.
-
Oh it's not an issue with the product just the license. It's a morals thing. Sorry wasn't trying to say its a bad product.
-
I'm looking at gmail swap now but if any turn up I would be interested in an invite.

I just dont use ipb but it's for different reasons. Guess I'm safe this time around. For me it's because I contribute to allot of gpl and os products and I dont care for their license.

Email Pictures From Phone To Website Script? How?
webmedic replied to Mav2u's topic in Scripting Talk
well I have already found a few but I'm lookinf for a stand alone product. I have also found a hack for movable type that does this and will look into taking out the parts that do what I need. -
How To Filter Mail To Folder At The Server Level
webmedic replied to dlevens's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
not exactly You can filter based on rules so for instance you could pre filter all your mailing lists into different folders. You could also use it to move your spam to a spam folder. I use the spam one on my own servers. I do allot more with it but for the context of this forum it doesn't matter so I wont go into it. We need to stick to what these servers do. -
I'm glad it worked for you and no problem.

Email Pictures From Phone To Website Script? How?
webmedic replied to Mav2u's topic in Scripting Talk
Yes I'll try to keep you updated as I have started looking also. If you find anything first let me know also. I'm just looking for php though I dont care for perl. I can code it if I have to but I prefer not to as it is so much slower than php for web stuff. I even code my shell scripts as php. At any rate if I find something I'll let you know. -
Installing Squirrelmail Plugins & Skins
webmedic replied to charlesincharge's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
thanks. That makes it even nicer to use webmail. do you know if it offers an encrypted channel or is it plain text only? -
hm interesting I should note here also that postnuke is very easy to install and that the next version which is currently being worked on .8 will use html templates that have features you have never seen before. I know since I helped code the templating engine. At any rate I do agree that it is best to choose what works best for you. I also like to make sure that the info going around is correct.

here at this link http://wordpress.org/support/7/1001 word press does support limited mobloging. this was from about 6 months ago and it may do more by now. here is a hack for word press that allows you to post pics from your pda or phone to your press. http://wordpress.org/support/10/1339 hope that helps. -
This is so true. Even though I program for postnuke. I have recently started doing mods for phpbb and my next site will based on that because it meets my needs better for right now. I checked out wordpress and it is gpl also which is a plus.

Installing Squirrelmail Plugins & Skins
webmedic replied to charlesincharge's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Yes I agree squirellmail is a very good solution and the best I have found. The number of features it has and the ammount of third party plugins is huge. Thanks for the info I will look into setting up my own also. One thing do you know if these servers support imap or is it pop only? -
How To Bounce Invalid E-mail Addresses?
webmedic replied to voilsb's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
If I understand from above correctly then yes that is the case. Since the bad email originates from an invalid address then the smtp server will reject it and therefore there would not be much bandwidth usage although there will still be a small amount not enough to matter though. -
well unfortuantely no. Phpnuke is not my forte. I'm a core programmer for postnuke not phpnuke. I can say that the security related sites consistantly list it as having security holes. I can also say that one of the sites I hang out at http://www.pclinuxonline.com finaly got tired of getting hacked and finaly got rid of phpnuke a few months ago. There are those of us who have been warning them for years but they just kept upgrading to the latsest version of phpnuke hoping to solve the issues. Well lets just say their site averages about 10,000 page views a day and it's most likely big enough to be noticed. Under those types of conditions hackers just dont leave you alone. In there case the guy was nice to them and just kept messing with them but not doing serious damage. Still they got sick of it and finaly got rid of phpnuke. Postnuke has much better security and as such take security very serious. As for tiki wiki and xoops I'm not a major programmer for them and cant say but I have not heard of the issues with them that I have with phpnuke. You know I dont make any money off this or anything but I've been programming php for at least 5 years and have been involved at one time or another with most of the largest os projects out there. I watch allot of them and keep up with what is going on. It helps me to make better choices when I go to use or program for them.
-
no dont phpnuke has many serious security issues. there is postnuke, envolution, mambo, drupal, xoops, and tikiwiki. out of those postnuke, xoops ans tiki wiki probably have the most features and users in the order listed. The others ase supposed to be good also but I have no personal experiance with them.
-
I've seen tons of these. The links look legit but if you hover over them they dont even remotely goto ebay or paypal.
-
I would not mind so much but it really depends on how it is implimented. I build these kind of email server for clients all the time and if it is not done right the cpu usage will bring the server to it's knees. It's gets worse the higher the load.
