Thanks Samantha - I feel very silly now I've tried so many email clients out in the last couple of months trying to find the "perfect" way of doing things and I could have sworn that I'd tried using signatures in Outlook, but it must have been one of the others! (Opera M2, Thunderbird, Pocomail, Eudora, The Bat etc etc) Cheers, Ali.

Having a good look at how much time I spend organising, composing and searching through emails and have found a fantastic add-on for Outlook (Nelson Email Organizer Pro) which makes the organizing/searching side of things very quick and easy. Now just need to sort out the composing email side of things ... Although personal emails are always best, certain paragraphs are often repeated on a daily basis and it gets a bit tiresome cutting and pasting those paragraphs from previous emails to save having to retype. There must be loads of programs that will allow me to store "boilerplate" text and then quickly insert them into the email - just can't seem to find any that do exactly what I have in mind ... Can anyone recommend anything? Cheers, Ali.

Here in Southern Spain it's currently around 90º with 43% humidity - quite pleasant Ali.

Also, someone mentioned: http://www.regretless.com/scripts/scripts.php#dodosmail somewhere on these forums a while back - dead easy to use Hope that helps, Ali

Hi, I've been approached by a client who owns a record label and wants to include streaming previews of tracks (totally legal). It's obviously not practical to use audio streaming in a shared hosting environment - that's fine, but I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend some "standalone" streaming host/provider/service? The site itself would still be with TCH. I've not gone into much detail with the client as yet, but I'm assuming that we'd be talking about maybe 30 or 40 streaming clips of around 3-4 minutes each. All suggestions appreciated Thanks Ali.

Thanks for your kind words everyone Glad you like it The "jumping " around that Jim mentions happens in all browsers, not just Firefox. To be quite honest, I started it so long ago that I can't quite remember why it does it, but it was something to do with it using layers and me not being able to find a way of centering the layer without it doing some calculations and jumping around at the same time. Adds character - lol! Cheers, Ali.

You know how car mechanics normally have the worst maintained cars as they are too busy looking after everyone elses? You know how chefs tend to eat junk food because they are too busy cooking for everyone else? Same goes for me as a webdesigner! My site has been a complete mess for the last year, but I really haven't had a spare second to sort it out ... only used it as an informational tool rather than a promotional one. Anyway, finally forced myself to work extra hours and come up with something a bit more presentable! (i was sooooo ashamed of the old one!) There's still bits and pieces to do (search engine optimisation is next weeks job), but it's ready for unveiling Url: http://www.vengavenga.com Name: Vengavenga - World Wide Web Weavers Description: Affordable webdesign, ecommerce stores and web-marketing. Link to TCH is at bottom of main page. Ahhh ... family  Thanks, Ali

I'm afraid not There are lots of php editors that make it easier to see what's what (colour the code etc) but you'll still just be looking at a page of text. Try not to be put off by it all though. Most of it you don't need to understand at all. Once you've added a new module (by following the instructions supplied with it to the letter) then adding the next one will be easier and so on. It's a learning curve, but not an impossible one Ali

Hi, It sounds like you've just given it wrong username and password for the database. I'm guessing the following from what you've posted: Your tch username is "xhiyldom" You've set up the database "oscommerce" And you've added a user to the dayabase called "tolrodc" More than likely, your full database name is actually "xhiyldom_oscommerce" Hope that helps

Thanks for that Rob - I did look on Hotscripts, but missed that one It's quite basic in comparison to the ones I've seen working on sites, but it's a good start if nothing else comes up. Anyone else know of any? (cost doesn't matter too much) Cheers Ali.

Hi, Take a look at this: http://en.easyart.com/scripts/framing/inde...0462&uncropped= and also http://www.PhotosFramed.com It's a very nice effect (for those haven't got time to look, customer uploads photo and chooses frame style/colour, website generates a preview of how the photo will look when framed) There are several sites on the that work in a similar way suggesting that there may be an "off-the-shelf" script that does this - can't find one though. I'm no expert on perl so I wouldn't have a clue where to start if I were to attempt to write a module like this from scratch. Does any of the family know of any scripts that are at least part way there? Thanks Ali.

Don't forget that you 'll need to be using a secure (SSL) connection when asking for the card details (not a problem with TCH Rock Sign ) Ali

No Mitch, it doesn't reload on the same page, it's just that it everytime you go to a new page you have to sit through the animation again. It's no big deal, but I can imagine that it might annoy some people - perhaps having the flash animation on the front page only would be better ... Ali.
-
Looks much better and seems a lot easier to navigate - nice job Only one criticism is the "reloading flash" that several others have mentioned ... Ali (who is so busy cxreating websitres for others that his own one is a complete mess as I haven't had time to redesign it!)

I'd absolutely love to switch os's and I've looked into it on a number of occasions whenever resources/time allow. Each time though, I've ended up "giving up" and going back to Windows. I know .. I know ... It's not a lack of desire to grasp the technical side of it - that's easily learnt ... it's just lack of time. The "excuse" everytime has been "ah well, spent 2 days on this part, should have spent that time working on ..." followed by "and anyway, I'm going to miss (insert name of software such as Dreamweaver here) - maybe better the devil you know". It's a feeble excuse, but the best I can come up with .... Ali

LOL - Thanks for that - needed a laugh after today! Just got back from the bar now after 10 hours sorting things out - it's all gone pretty well actually (apart from the fact that the ISP has cut off their internet connectionm as the previous owner hadn't paid the bill ) Everything is clean and working now - tomorrow it's a case of physically moving them, so here's my question for today ... 8 PCs 1 ADSL Router 1 Switch (8 ports plus uplink) 1 Hub (4 ports plus uplink) I'm assuming that the excess of ports is because they had more PCs at some point. As I mentioned before, the computers are in two "rows", but they are to moved into one long "row". We don't really need the hub, as (if I understand it all correctly) the switch will be fine as it has the correct number of ports, but the cables are only long enough to reach the first 4 workstations. Can the hub be moved further down the line (connected to the switch) to deal with the furthest away 4? If so, where does it connect ("normal" port to port, or does uplink on the hub come into it anywhere?) and with what type of cable (straight through patch?) Any advice would be very much appreciated Thumbs Up Thanks, Ali.
