Hi, I run a website where I write about my hobby (a bit like a blog but not quite). I really enjoy writing but often feel I don't get my point across in an elegant or interesting way. Does anybody know of any writing courses aimed at opinion/technical/journalism? I can find quite a few about creative writing but that's not what I think I need. It seems to me that with so many bloggers writing thousands of words every day this course could be really useful. How to give an opinion and explain your viewpoint. Have I spotted a gap in the market? TIA Phillip

HI, I want to create a 404.php and have the server use that instead of the 404.shtml page. I've tried a couple of options: 1. cretae the 404.php and delete the 404.shtml page - doesn't work. Goes to a generic error page. 2. redirect the 404.shtml to the 404.php page. That also doesn't work. It goes to the same generic error page with an additonal error. Does anybody know what I need to do? TIA Phillip

I'm looking for something that clear shows the progression, like the seasons - as the tree changes colour and losses it leaves. I don't want random(Almost) images. I prefer photos but if I found a nice series that were vector graphics I would be happy.

Hi, I have a monthly news review on my site and I want to use a small icon for every month. HI, I purchased a new domain name and a hosting package here at TCH for a game mod that a few of my friends are putting together. I now want to take a backseat role and let others run the site. This means I need to give one person full access to Cpanel but I still want to keep my access. I will still be ultimately responsible because TCH has my CC details! Unlike most other replies I was quite happy with my previous host, I just decided I wanted more space and that it would be foolish not to look around. The thing that really swung it for me was reading a post here on the TCH forums about the ownership of the intellectual property after a customer doesn't pay their bill. A potential customer felt that TCH's rules were a little unfair and Bill changed them! As far as I can see Bill really believes "The Customer is King". I wish he would branch out into other services I would buy/use everything he did (If I needed it). Everything works fine! I deleted the old installation, created a new db and user, added the new user to db, extracted the files, edited the password and config files. ran mt-check and then mt-load. No problems. This is really good software and I'm glad I took the time (pretty short really) to install it. All I need to do now is begin to customize the look. Which, I might add, is very easy via the templates page. A little knowledge of HTML is useful. Lisa, thank you for your kind offer. After viewing your site, which I enjoy reading BTW, I may IM you with a few plugin questions. You seem to be Plugin Queen! To all readers thinking about installing MT; DO IT. By reading the instructions carefully and by taking your time, you will have a fully featured blog on your site in no time.

Hi, I have followed both TCH's and the instructions on movabletype.org very carefully. When I open the mt-load.cgi file I receive this message: Loading initial data into system... An error occurred while loading data: Connection error: Access denied for user: 'TCHAccountName_UserName@localhost' (Using password: YES) (Obviously I have replaced TCHAccountName_UserName with the real information. The password I used in the mt-db-pass.cgi file is not "YES". I have tried creating a new user and giving him db access but that didn't work. All the files are cmod'd to 755. I uploaded the tar.gz file via ftp then extracted. Does this effect the ASCII or binary mode? One last thing I have not created a new directory because I want MT as my index page. TIA Phillip

I connected yesterday with a 56K dial up and can view everything, so it really does sound like the ISP. I will call them tody, it's really hard to find an english speaker on support! My Spanish is just not good enough. One thing that is strange is that there are now other sites I can't reach. Winguides.com is one. I had a look through the forums for family members' sites I assume are on TCH. I can't reach these: http://www.davejenbarnes.com/ Maybe they are on the same server as me?
