  1. Bill, I use robocopy.exe from the Windows Server Resource Kit. I wrote a little batch file to copy what I wanted to a network drive and used the XP scheduler to schedule the backup task. You can also use the ntbackup.exe utility that comes with XP pro. (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup) Both methods allow the source and destination to be a network drive. Since I'm not intetrested in a DR backup or versioning, I just grap a few folders for documents, email and browser settings and copy to the network. -Jim
  2. Bruce, I wanted to check if is a firewall issue or a webmail issue or a sqmail issue before opening the ticket. I've finally gotten a chance to try from a computer that is not behind a firewall and have some more information for the ticket. - Jim
  3. Except when I try this I get... Warning: Unknown(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/******/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown(/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/index.php): failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0 Warning: (null)(): Failed opening '/usr/local/squirrelmail-1.4.3a/index.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0 and yes I replaced ****** with my real domain name. 4. Or you could use a couple of .htaccess directives, add a readme.html and a HEADER.html and you get a very nice display. See This example Thhe mod_autoindex documentation gives all the details on how to do this. I prefer the mod_autoindex method since it does not rely on yet another script that I have to keep updating In the .htaccess IndexIgnore robots.txt admin include scripts images style IndexOptions DescriptionWidth=* NameWidth=* IndexOptions +IconsAreLinks +SuppressColumnSorting +SuppressLastModified IndexOrderDefault Ascending Size AddDescription "US Government
  5. I use the script from http://www.baskettcase.com/classes/breadcrumb/ You can see an example at /www.unibrain.org It has lots of configuration options and was easy to setup.
  6. Glad I coule help. When your done I'd like to see what you come up with. - Jim
  7. The only thing I add manually is a description for the important stuff (see the .htaccess example) Everything else is automagic via mod_autoindex HEADER.html --------------- <head> <title> UniBrain Movie Collection </title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="/style/screen.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="//scripts/scripts.js"> </script> </head> <div id="logo"> Unibrain Movie Collection </div> <!-- Cookie cru
  8. Have a look at http://movies.unibrain.org/ This is an FTP site wrapped in a standard header, footer and style sheet. The header and footer can be any valid HTML. If this is what your after, see http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_autoindex.html For my example, .htaccess looks like IndexIgnore robots.txt uptime.txt include scripts images style IndexOptions DescriptionWidth=* NameWidth=* IndexOptions +IconsAreLinks +SuppressColumnSorting +SuppressLastModified IndexOrderDefault Ascending Size AddDescription "US Government on how to stop ID Theft " IDTheftVideo.avi ....
  9. I didn't feel picked on. This is a discussion and as such there are different opinions on what should be done. One of the things I like about the forums here is a discussion stays a discussion, no name calling, no flame wars. It's the better part of a family. ( Too much valentines candy is affecting me...)
  10. As Jikrantz pointed out there is a site map. But where is the link in the front page? On the right column, 2/3 of the way down the page under "Web Hosting Support" This is a great example of what I mean by poor navigation structure. Who needs a site map? People who are lost. This should be at the top of the page maybe even one of the tabs. In addition to the map being hard to find, it is inaccurate. Go to the map and find "Server Status" and click on it. You end up at http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-hosting-servers.html which has a link to http://www.tchstatus.com/ Wha
  11. Contrary to what others have said, the navigation is awful. Things (status, Q and A, how to, etc) are scattered about with no overall structure. In addition, there is not overall site map to help find that link I stumbled across last week. The look is fine, loads quickly and works on my various browsers. Fix the navigation part and it would be near perfect. - Jim
  12. A pre-virus filter would be great. My ISP uses postini to pre-filter for spam and to scan for viruses (or is that viri?) In the past day I've received 177 infected email messages in that account with none getting through the filter. In contrast, the mail that goes through TCH has no virus scanning and Norton has caught about 20 after I forced a definition update. There were another 20 or so that go through before the definitions were updated. Most of us are bright enough not to open these messages and attachments, but there are obviously a lot of people who still do. I think we should
  13. I would like the ability to schedule my own backups w/out having to write another script and put it in cron. This sounds like yet another CPANEL option. Maybe the thread should be called, "what do you want to see in CPANEL" - Jim
