  1. Hey Don thanks for the link to that site. I did set the margins to 0. It's weird because I used an older bit of code I had for iFrames and that is working fine now. I am not sure why the iFrame Suite code messes up the alignment. Still looking in to it. Someone told me the other day that my using scrollers would put a lot of web users "off". Do you think this is true?
  2. Interesting... iFrame misalignment This has me confused: There is a site I desgined a few months ago (without the 4 Level Dreamweaver plug-in): http://www.deilsys.com This uses iFrames and regular scroll bars. When I check it in the Mac Browser checker, it comes up fine with no misalignment of the iFrame. Here is the code: DEIL SYSTEMS SITE ><iframe id="frame" name="frame" width="610px" height="285px" align="left" frameborder="no" scrolling="yes" src="specials.htm">Your browser does not support iFrames. Please upgrade your browser so you have the latest version available.</iframe> The plugin I used to create the iFrames this time rendered the following code: MBSTIA SITE ><iframe id="frame" name="frame" style="position:absolute; width:675px; height:285px; top:338px; left:150px; z-index:1; background-color: #FFFFFF; layer-background-color: #FFFFFF; border: 1px none #000000;" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" src="../mbstia/test_scrollins.htm">Your browser does not support iFrames. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version.</iframe> http://www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/test_scroll.htm I tried to use the old (non-plugin) code in place of what I had for the iFrame code for the MBSTIA site to see if that would fix the misaligned iFrame: ><iframe id="frame" name="frame" width="675px" height="285px" align="left" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" src="../mbstia/test_scrollins.htm">Your browser does not support iFrames. Please upgrade your browser so you have the latest version available.</iframe> But as you can see when you check it, it is still misaligned. Why is that happening? BTW I figured that the screen resolution has nothing to do with the misaligment as I checked it on 15,17 and 19 Inch Monitors in IE and Firefox and the iFrame is aligned fine. It just does not align on a Mac. Strange.
  3. Thanks Don. I do have to figure out what sort of DocType will work as I have read it's really not good to leave the DocType completely out. As for the lines, grrrr.. they have been a source of utter frustration. When I create the Editable Region for the Header in the Template file, it doest that. When I just leave it and don't make that a Dreamweaver Template, it renders fine without the line. I am fiddling with it to see if I can get it to work.
  4. Got an email back from the iFrame Suite developer. He told me to take out the DocType in the pages that were being called into the iFrame and that has fixed the issue. Now if I can figure out why adding in that editable template Header region is breaking up my design in Firefox, I'll be ready to rock and roll...
  5. Ok, this is interesting. Just checked the design in Firefox again and the scrollers aren't working in either browser (IE 6 or Firefox) I got the webdev tool for Firefox and there is are JS errors showing: What do those errors mean?
  6. Ok Wow... I just found a whole buncha goodies! Thanks for the heads up on those guys. Man, Microsoft had better come up with something REALLY good to compete with what Mozilla is doing. It's a pitty we even have to make our sites IE "friendly". Oh well.
  7. Hi gang, Tweaking my latest design and decided to add in a page that has iFrame scrollers as an option to use for sections that have a lot of text. Everything has been going alright, except now I have an issue with IE 6 and the iFrame scrollers. Just FYI, I am using 4 Level's iFrame Suite plugin in Dreamweaver to add the scrolling behavior and iFrames into the design. I am going to email them as well about the issue, but not sure it is within the scope of support there, so I figured I'd ask my TCH Family for some input, cuz you guys are always so helpful and I learn a lot here. The Design in question: PAGE 1 (non-template page) www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/testplainscroll.htm This is a page cretated in Photoshop > Sliced in Fireworks and exported to Dreamweaver. Firefox 1.0.3 - scrollers work fine and text looks fine IE6 - Scrollers just go up and down 1 pixel. They do not scroll properly. PAGE 2 (DWT template page) www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/test_scroll.htm This is a design cretated in Photoshop > Sliced in Fireworks and exported to Dreamweaver and made into a DWT (Dreamweaver Template) Problems: Firefox 1.0.3 - scrollers work fine but for some reason the HEADING template editable region breaks up the design a bit. Because the design does not break up in the non-template file, I have a feeling that the design break up has something to do with inputting an editable region in the template file. I will have to play around with that to see if I can fix it. Scrollers work fine IE6 - Scrollers just go up and down 1 pixel. They do not scroll properly. The design part looks fine. Any ideas where I can look to tweak to fix these issues? Thanks
  8. Don, You know, I didn't actually do that with this design because of the zillion slices I make in Fireworks to export to Dreamweaver. I do usually use that technique, but when there are a lot of slices it usually renders the design all funky in the DW view. What's the Firefox extension and where can I get it? Thanks
  9. Ok, I figured it out. I had to go in and set up email accounts for each email address I wanted and then in Outlook put in the FULL email address and corresponding password. Yay!
  10. Looks like that compression works REALLY well! Those are my files, just squished to the max! Thanks for explaining all that to me.
  11. David! Thank you so much for pointing that out. That was the culprit. Sometimes you just can't see the forest for the trees.... errr or the CSS! Thanks again
  12. Thanks guys! I found a PHP one by Chumpsoft that looks like it will meet my needs. I didn't think to search using PHP Poll, I was just searching using "Polling Software".
  13. Hi, Just trying to set up email in Outlook 2003 going through the domain instead of my ISP and I have run into a strange error. I used the Help Docs on the TCH site (for Outlook 2002) to set up the email addresses. I am able to send the emails just fine (even using Port 25), but for some reason I can't recieve any email. Why would this happen? The port for recieving email is set to 110. I also have authentication checked to use same settings as my incoming mail server. Incoming (POP) is set to mail.domain.com Outgoing (SMTP) is set to mail.domain.com Also, just a quick question: in order to set up an email address to use in Outlook, in cPanel, do I have to go to MAIL > MANAGE/ADD/REMOVE ACCOUNTS > then set up a new email address? Do I use that password instead of the master password to set up the account in Outlook? I don't want to use webmail for this particular account, just Outlook. Most of the other email addresses I have for this particular domain have forwarders set up on them that forward email to a Yahoo account. I'm just not sure how to set up the initial email account if I am not forwarding it anywhere and don't want to use webmail. If I did want to use Outlook and also forward these emails to an outside account, how would I set that up? This part of the online instructions confused me: I used the main cPanel passwords because when i tried to use the email username it wouldn't work. Using the cpanel username and password did work tho. Thanks for your help!
  14. Hi! I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good polling script that I can install that isn't hosted on someone else's server or that charges a monthly or per answer poll fee? I have been searching high and low and can't seem to find any software that is good. Thanks
  15. Hi gang, I have run into the strangest error with a design I am working on and I am hoping someone out there can shed some light on the matter. I have a new layout that I have designed in Photoshop and then sliced in Fireworks and exported to Dreamweaver. In Dreamweaver I have made this design a template and have been testing pages created from the template. Everything was going smoothly until I added in my CSS stylesheet link using the following code: ><link rel= "stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="http://www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/styles/main.css" /> When I test the design in the IE 6 and Firefox browsers with the stylesheet linked: http://www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/test.htm There is a one pixel line running along the top of the page and down the side. When I take the stylesheet out, the design is fine and that one pixel line at the top and right side is gone: http://www.natfunkmusic.com/mbstia/testnocss.htm Is there any explanation for this behavior? I can't for the life of me figure it out. Thanks
  16. Ayman, This particular site is an Association site. The databases are as follows: 1.) Directory Database: music managers come in and put in their address and company contact information and it is a searchable feature 2.)Jamroom script: this is a script/program that hosts musican profiles and music. All this info goes into the database set up for Jamroom 3.) aMember: this database is for our member only section for the site. I just want to make sure I am properly backing up these databases because if we loose the data I have to make sure it's retrievable. I am also doing regular entire site backups. The link to the site I am talking about is www.indiemanagers.com Thanks for your help
  17. Thanks Thomas!
  18. I have a site that has 3 databases on it. I just did my first backup via cPanel and had a quick query about the file size. The databases aren't huge, but it surprised me to see that the file sizes were tiny. Is this normal? I just want to make sure I really have backed these db's up. They are about 6kb, 15kb and 24kb is size. Is that right? I thought they would be larger for some reason.
  19. I got an email today for one of the domains I have a website on (it's my brother's site actually). Anyway... I have never heard of such a thing as a letter to verify this domain info. Is this legitimate? Here is the letter they sent:
  20. OK so just so you know... To upgrade the board, you download the "Changed Files Only" zip and overwrite your existing files with those ones. Then you run the upgrade.php file in the install folder and that updates the board. When you are done you delete the install files. There are complete instructions in the zip file. Board is now updated and I shall be more vigilant with updates!
  21. Thanks Don! I finally figured that out after pouring thru the Databases portion of cPanel.. thought it was there.... but it's in the Site Management section. LOL I think I need some coffee! LOL
  22. To backup the db > Go to cPanel "Site Management" >Backup > Download a MySQL Database Backup Click DB Name >save .gz file to local computer
  23. OK I did find some upgrade help. Here is the link in case it helps anyone: http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/#section2_4 Just gotta make a backup of the DB before I do anything.
  24. OK just a quick question... for the upgrade.. should I download the "Changed Files Only" or the "Patch"? http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php What would be the best way to upload them to the server? Thru cPanel or FTP? I've never done this kind of an upgrade before.
  25. Raul... looks like I did have .11. I thought it was .13 but turns out the highest the cPanel upgrade goes is .11 right now. My bad. Will run scan tonight. Thanks!
