lsfloden Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 My older brother told me about this place and it looks good from what I can tell. The only question I have is about DNS. From the FAQ I saw only one question about DNS, in the packages I saw nothing about DNS. If I switch to here as my hosting site, is DNS included in the package? Currently I have another 2 years with my other registrar and I currently have them pointing to my current DNS provider, a free one. Rather than having to go all over the place it would be nice to just get it all in one place. So what's the scope on DNS? Lars Quote
TCH-Rob Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Lars, I am not sure I entirely understand the question but if you get hosting here all you have to do is point your domain name to us by changing your name servers at your curent registrar. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 If you set the nameservers at the registrar of the domain to our nameservers the DNS Zone will be controlled here. That is the easiest solution. Quote
lsfloden Posted April 9, 2004 Author Posted April 9, 2004 Sorry, I have a habit of posting confusing posts. So it is included as part of the hosting package then? I've seen on a lot of other hosting sites where they want to charge an extra $5 for DNS. Thanks. Lars Quote
TCH-Rick Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 It might help insure that there is no confusion if you explain exactly what you are referring to when you say DNS. I am not familiar with hosts charging extra for setting up a DNS Zone so that your site will resolve correctly. If you are talking about having nameservers with your domain name, i.e. ns1.****** then that is available on reseller accounts only. Quote
lsfloden Posted April 9, 2004 Author Posted April 9, 2004 DNS- Domain Name Service It sounds like you guys do cover it. Basically I need to point my domain to a name server that would resolve the IP. You guys have the nameserver and it sounds like it is part of the package. Believe it or not there are web hosting companies that want to charge for resolving the domain name too. So if I set up my account and host my domain here, you will add the entry for my domain into you name server and I just point my current registrar at your name servers? Thanks Lars Quote
TCH-Rick Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Yes, your domain will be added to our nameservers and there is no additional charge for the service. Quote
DarqFlare Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 Wow, I can't imagine a host charging to resolve the domain name.. That's so absurd! Almost 100% of the time, the point of having a web hosting account is to host a domain at it. Bloodsucking hosts. They should learn from TCH that service is the way... Not greed. Quote
lsfloden Posted April 10, 2004 Author Posted April 10, 2004 Thanks guys, I'll setting up my account soon. Lars Quote
