User Posted Image

Why does my MSN icon in my sig show up as "user posted image"? Driving me bonkers Mad!!! The Yahoo icon shows up alright but not the MSN icon (and I've tried two diff computers-one at work & the one at home). I gave totalchoicehosting.com/forums permission to access images from my website in htaccess.

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have both

in my hotlink list

note I save the list to a text file as a backup,

some times you need to deactivate hotlinking for a little while,

because it not working right.

And then reactivate it later.

But when I goto reactivate it

the list has changed a little.

From what I can see, it is slowly trying to download that image from your site on my cable modem. Similar to what I had seen with your sig flash a while back.

The image eventually times out and gives the beloved Red-X.

I'm showing this as the initial attempt to get your MSN status:

When I go to that, it redirects a few times between onlinestatus servers before ultimately failing.

I looked at the TCH's onlinestatus and it appears that MSN status might not be working.

I added www.totalchoicehosting.com AND totalchoicehosting.com to see if that helps any.

 

So... is the MSN status thing just not working? or is my icon just like corrupt or something? or what's up?

 

or should I take a chill pill and just wait it out ...

 

one thing to note is that when I refresh the page, a URL that shows up in the bottom status bar of the browser is "snind.gotdns.com" or something to that effect when the MSN icon is trying to load...

If it makes you feel any better, the MSN status thing in my sig isn't working, and I use the default TCH one.

The problem with MSN is that they don't have a web status check method like most of the other services, so the online status program that is used has to log into MSN as a client to check status. That makes it less stable. One of the staff I'm sure will take a look at it soon as they get a chance, but it's a free service provided with no guarantees, so I'm sure it's not top priority.

After reading this entry: www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9201&view=findpost&p=60265 I tried what it suggested which was editing the code to use html links & img tags instead of the [ url ] [ img ] etc., etc. tags.

i wonder if that should be added to the "Our Gift for You" thread? or is it only a problem for a handful of people?
