dsdemmin Posted March 30, 2004 Posted March 30, 2004 The title of a link is called the 'link text' and it (along with the flanking text) plays a major role in identifying the content of the link. Actually, link text is the most important. The more relevant the link content is to the corresponding page, the more value that particular link has as a legitimate citation to that page. Individuals have exploited this by performing 'Google Bombing' the most famous case being 'Miserable Failure'. Bottom line, always use relevant phrase within link text (i.e. don't use 'click here').
