chaumess Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 I would like to make my webmail site default to the SSL encrypted version. Is there a way to do this, so that I don't have to go to http://domain/webmail, log in under clear text, click on the SSL link, and then log in all over again? Quote
Lianna Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Well, a cheaters way: Create a subdomain called webmail Setup a redirect to the secure path. Teehee. It works. Lianna Quote
KevinW Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 Lianna -- if you can document 'how' to do this and send it to me via email, I will include it in the upcoming TCH help site. -kw Quote
Lianna Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Sure, I can do that. ....provided that I remember to do that! LOL Please remind me if I somehow drop it, ok? Lianna Quote

Lianna Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 HA! Man, I knew somebody was gonna bust me on that! Coming up, asap this morning. (sorry for the delay) Lianna Quote
Lianna Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I didn't forget, I was just taken away from writing the steps for a more pressing matter. You asked for it: Here goes: (somebody test it and doublecheck me, k?) 1. Go to ******/webmail and click the link for "Click for Secure Site" 2. Accept the security alert window by clicking Yes. 3. Enter your login info 4. Highlight the address in your browser's address bar and copy it (CTRL-C). 5. Access your cPanel 6. Click Manage Subdomains 7. Create a subdomain like securemail and click Add 8. Click Go back, to get back to the Manage Subdomains screen 9. Click Setup Redirection for that subdomain 10. Click in the text box, highlight the existing http:// and delete it. 11. While still in that text box, CTRL-V to paste the address copied earlier. 12. Click Save. 13. Log out of cPanel and test http://securemail.****** to make sure that you access the secure mail login. Lianna Quote
seancb Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 how can i get to the horde login screen without having to log into cpanel? Quote
seancb Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 when i do that, i have to enter my cpanel login and password.. it pops up and asks me to enter my password for realm "webmail" and then the only thing it accepts is my cpanel user/pass... is that the way it works for you? Quote
Lianna Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 You do have to login, but as any mail user that you have configured. To use a username other than your cpanel username and pass, you must enter the full email address in the windows login popup. For example: I entered into my addressbar: http://stoverdatasystems.com/webmail I am prompted to login by windows and I type username: lianna@stoverdatasystems.com and that mail account's password. (my cpanel username is not 'lianna'). That process dumps me to the *pick Neomail or Horde* page. That's where I can pick the Click for Secure Site link. This is all relating to items #3 and 4 in my list. Quote
seancb Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 hm ok. and then you have to login again at the horde screen. it all just seems so messy! Quote
Lianna Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 But you only have to do this once to get to the correct address. Once you get to the address, you can copy it and paste it into the subdomain redirect. From that point on, you will only be promted to login (by windows), once, then it will prepopulate the Horde login screen and you just Login. These are the steps for setting up making it easy for you. Lianna Quote
KevinW Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 you can also use a small Javascript to add to a page on your web site for signing in. It will still take you to the Horde screen, but it will be prefilled, and you bypass the Horde/Neomail option screen. take a look at the script at: http://tch.kwsupport.com/id35.htm Warning, the link for the live example may not work - I am in the process of redisigning these support pages for TCH. kw Quote
Lianna Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Ok, here's the steps to make it easy. Skip the first 4 steps from above. Start here: 5. Access your cPanel 6. Click Manage Subdomains 7. Create a subdomain like securemail and click Add 8. Click Go back, to get back to the Manage Subdomains screen 9. Click Setup Redirection for that subdomain 10. Click in the text box and delete the http:// that is already there. 11. Type in the text box https://******:2096/horde/index.php 12. Click Save. 13. Log out of cPanel and test http://securemail.****** to make sure that you access the secure mail login. It prepopulates the Horde login, so you really only have to login once. and then hit Enter.
