scotttyz Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 I need to set up 2 sets of email (acccounts? lists? forwards?) We have about 12 email addresses (@****) I need to set up a (whatever) that send an email to 4 of them and another that emails about 8 of them. Anyone should be able to send an email to these. If i set up forwards it looks like I am going to have to also set up an email account that would require me to "empty" on a regular basis. Am I wrong on this?? Mailman looks like it would not allow non-list members to send emails to "the list" The other hosts I have been with have all had a "forwards to" type of email accounts that did not store the messages but allowed us to send out emails to our different groups. wigoweb Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 My experience with a Forward account, is that the account simply passes the email message to all of the recipients. As long as you can add a list of recipients for the one forwarded account, you should be all set. There should not be any mail left in the Forward account for you to go empty. Quote
scotttyz Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 So am I incorrect that we need to create an acual email account for the "forwards" email address? I did create an acual email address (list1@****) then set up forwards from list1@ to User1, to User2, etc. I do have email sitting in the list1@ email account. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 You do not need to set up an email account for a forwarder. Just create the forwarder and all mail sent to that address will be forwarder. As mentioned in several forum posts, I would not recommend forwarding mail to an AOL accounyt due to the problems with their SPAM protection techniques. Quote
scotttyz Posted March 8, 2004 Author Posted March 8, 2004 Thanks for the info Rick. I am not sending (nor do I recomend using) AOL. All the "forwards" are our @ourdomain emails. Quote
