TangentIdea Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Does anyone know of an easy way to transfer files directly between two webservers? I'm moving another one of my sites to the TCH servers, but I have a large amount of audio on the site (>100mb). I'm on dialup, so it would be a royal pain to upload all those files again. I poked around on the ResourceIndex site, but all I could find was a perl FTP program for $25. Sooo... short of just getting a browser-based command-line shell and executing the FTP command that way, I don't have any other great ideas. Any suggestions? -Ryan Quote
TCH-Dick Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Does your other host uses cpanel 3 or above? If so we can probably transfer it for you. Quote
borfast Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 (edited) Ryan, I've never done a direct server-to-server transfer but you might want to try this: http://flashfxp.com Edit: Oops, Mike beat me to it 8) Edited February 25, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Ooooh FXP... I hate FXP!!! The one problem of intrusion I ever had was an FXP server getting setup on a dedicated box a while back that was being used by gamers. Nothing wrong with the utilities for FXP, but I have to say I have a bad taste anymore. Quote
TangentIdea Posted February 26, 2004 Author Posted February 26, 2004 My TotalChoice acct has Cpanel 3, I believe. My other account (with PHPwebhosting) doesn't -- they write their own control panel. (Which is very nice, btw...) So are you saying there's a way to do it from w/in cPanel? -Ryan Quote
TCH-Dick Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 No there isnt, if phpwebhosting used cpanel we could transfer it for you, but since they dont...we cant Quote
taznumber1 Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Does your other host have shell or telnet access. If your other host has that you can log in to your shell account and use ftp from that host to ftp your files to the tch webserver. But if you do not have shell access on your other host server you are kinda out of luck since if you wanted shell access with tch you would had to have gotten it a while back because the do not offer it any more. TangentIdea Posted February 27, 2004 Author Posted February 27, 2004 Yes, PHPwebhosting does offer SSH access. Now what? -Ryan Quote
TangentIdea Posted February 29, 2004 Author Posted February 29, 2004 Never mind, I finally figured out how to do it myself. -Ryan Quote
