bluemorpho Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Hi everyone, we switched our site to Total Choice this past week. We had what we thought was a small site with good, but not tons of traffic, and our stats with our old host were terrible. So we never really knew for sure how much bandwidth we were using. We've had our site open on Total Choice for 2 days and our bandwidth is at 2.85 GB (in AwStats). I have the starter plan with 5.5 GB monthly bandwidth. Does the 2.85 GB stand for accumulated bandwidth already for this month?? If so, I'm going to need to upgrade quickly!! Thanks for your help...this is my first question on the forums! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 (edited) welcome to the family, bluemorpho! Since you just got your website 2 days ago you had to upload your entire site and that would account for the majority of the bandwidth. But if you need more it is simple to upgrade. Just open a Help Desk ticket and they will be sure to help. Bandwitdth is all FTP, email and web traffic accumulated. Edited February 12, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
bluemorpho Posted February 12, 2004 Author Posted February 12, 2004 Thank you for the quick reply! Will I be notified if I'm about to go over my limit or do I need to keep a close eye on the stats myself? I am so pleased with the service here...my husband has a few sites with you guys and I'm thrilled to have switched hosts to come here! Thanks again! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 When you hit 80% you will receive an email informing you that you are close to your limit. Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Here is a good ? If you reach BW limit, do they shut you down or simply charge you for overages? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Since it's never happened to me, I don't have a concrete answer. But you are sent the email at 80% which should give you time to make arrangements to up your bandwidth. I think the system automaically will suspend your account. Then again, I could be wrong. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Ive read somewhere the site is suspended and then reopened at new month. (Cant find the exact answer when i search Mad!!! ) Quote
TCH-Andy Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Correct You will be sent an email at 80%. If you choose to do nothing, then if the site reaches 100% if your allocated bandwidth it will be automatically suspended. You can then either buy more bandwidth, upgrade (usually the best option in my book, since it is likely to happen again), or leave it - and it will be come unsuspended at the start of the next month. TCH-Bruce Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Take a look at the TCH Faq page. Part way down you will find. What happens if I exceed my allocated bandwidth? You will receive an automatic e-mail message warning you that you have reached 80% of your contracted limit. This should give you plenty of time to contact TCH and purchase more bandwidth. Once you have exceeded your limit, your account is suspended for the rest of the current month. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 ALso note that if you do not have a contact email set up in CPanel you will not receive an email. Quote
