natimage Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 OK...I finally found a merchant account/gateway provider (securenetshop.com) that I was going to suggest for a client, only to discover that it is not listed in the "contributions" section of the osCommerce site. I'm assuming that if it's not listed, and I want to stick with osCommerce...I need to find another merchant account/gateway provider!?!? Thanks, Rob, for all the help in the PMs. I feel like I know enough that I should be able to ask fairly educated questions, now. Maybe... Quote
vengavenga Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 I've just taken a look at the site to see how their gateway integrates with cart systems and can't really find any information. I thought it might be possible just to modify an exisiting osC payment module to suit, but the info on their site is very vague. Might be worthwhile sending them a quick email explaining that you need more specific technical details about the payment gateway(s) that they use. If they don't provide a helpful response then they're probably not worth dealing with anyway ... Ali www.vengavenga.com Quote
natimage Posted February 11, 2004 Author Posted February 11, 2004 I sent an email and will post any info. if I hear back!! Thanks!!!!! Quote
natimage Posted February 12, 2004 Author Posted February 12, 2004 Question answered...they use something I can't remember, and Authorize.net...which is supported by osCommerce. If anyone else has any input on this site...I sure would appreciate it! www.securenetshop.com. One thing I don't understand is how they can offer such competive prices using a service that's as expensive as Authorize.net. Any input? Should I be wary?? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 I just signed up for it. I will let you know what I find out as soon as I get an answer. Quote
natimage Posted February 12, 2004 Author Posted February 12, 2004 Rob...you're my favorite person this week! I sent them an email asking more questions as well. Looks like a pretty good deal...but you never know about these things until it's too late, sometimes!! Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 They use linkpoint card service international, or at least that is what I will be using and there is a contrib for osc with it. Updates soon. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 I got the account. There is a contrib for it. I am having a bear of a time getting it to work though. If I can get the account anyone can though. Looks like I will be using them for a while of I can get this dang contribution to work. Quote
natimage Posted February 15, 2004 Author Posted February 15, 2004 SOOOO...if you get your working, and my client decides to go with this company...will you be willing to help a total newbie through the process??????? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Sure will, it is one file in particular and how it contacts linkpoint that I am having issues with, troubles with cURL. I get that fixed and you can have a copy of that file. Quote
natimage Posted February 15, 2004 Author Posted February 15, 2004 Rob...I'm assuming you were at least somewhat impressed with the site to go ahead and get your own account??? Are you using your own SSL? Is that going to keep the url from changing in the address bar? I know the user doesn't have to leave the site, but they weren't real clear to me on the url. I'm thinking that even thought I'm looking into to this for the client, that I should go ahead and apply myself...so that I can mess with it on a sample site and be able to help him use the service. There's no reason why I shouldn't get my own, is there? I don't have any products to sell right now... You're my new friend, Rob... Quote

I do have my own, it never changes except to add the "S" and the SSL isn't used until you enter the shopping cart and proceed to checkout. Honestly, with OSC there is only one or two settings you have to change to utilize the SSL. Your own merch account? Not unless you want to pay the monthly fee, I think you would be throwing money away getting one if you don't need it. Quote
natimage Posted February 16, 2004 Author Posted February 16, 2004 You are so correct...I forgot all about those monthly fees!!! I'll just have to play with the osCommerce. Since you were "somewhat" impressed...would you be willing to share the things that you weren't impressed with? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Tracy, I put somewhat because it was easier to cut and paste your word than type my own. I am lazy, I'm a guy remember. I need to get the code working like it should be and some processes under my belt and then I can give you an honest opinion. Quote
natimage Posted February 17, 2004 Author Posted February 17, 2004 Not a problem, Rob...I certainly don't mean to rush you!!! I'm just happy that you're doing it at all, because I'm sure it will make it easier on me in the end!!! Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Tracy, Dont feel like you are rushing me. Like I said, I am lazy so that = slow in my book. I think I am going to have to contact customer support for linkpoint to see what is happening though. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 I have disbanded this option. I will be looking into other vendors. Quote
