Russ Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 I hope that this isn't a stupid question - When I view the following website http://www.hintzefamily.com/photoalbum.htm with IE, the "scroll button" on my mouse will work and I can scroll by rolling that button. However, when I view the page with Navigator (7.0) the scroll button is inactive. Interestingly, when I view the following page http://www.hintzefamily.com/ with either IE or navigator, the scroll button works. What gives? Any heads up would be appreciated. thanks. Russ Quote
Lianna Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 Wow, it would be really easy for me to throw in my two cents about Netscape right now. Lianna Quote
Russ Posted February 8, 2003 Author Posted February 8, 2003 Istover, Is there something i am missing. I have never used Netscape until today. I was checking out a CSS tutorial and the effect it was demonstrating did not appear on IE - the tutorial said that Netscape would be different, so i downloaded it - and it was different. I then checked out my own site with Nestscape and my CSS page was not working, so I played around with the link to the css page and got it working, but then the scroll button "closed down." The page were it works with both browsers doesn't uss css. What gives? Quote
TCH-Rick Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 I tried using Mozilla to view the page and also found that the scroll wheet didn't work. Then I clicked on one of the links to the left and the scroll wheel worked fine even though it was viewing within the same page. Odd quirk, I guess. Quote
Russ Posted February 8, 2003 Author Posted February 8, 2003 Rick, I tried the same thing with Navigator (clicked on one of the links on left) and the scroll bar worked - that is interesting. i wonder why? Quote
Lianna Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 Sorry, I'm a bit slap-happy tonight. I'm not a fan of Netscape that's all. I downloaded it and installed and got completely lost, just trying to open my very own home page. You might say "It just takes getting used to" and you'd be right I'm sure. But if <14% of the visitors to my site are using NS, I won't go to a lot of trouble to completely work out all the compatibility issues. See? Anyway. To each his own. (By the way I have the same opinion of designing for multiple resolutions....c'mon, design TWO whole sites just because it doesn't look perfectly perfect in one resolution or the other? Yep, nuts in my book.) But what do I know. Lianna All in good fun. Quote
KevinW Posted February 8, 2003 Posted February 8, 2003 your photo album page did NOT scroll for me - and I am using IE6 on Windows XP. As far as IE vs Netscape is concerned - I used to be a devout Netscape believer, but when they released NS 6.0 they lost me as a user. I retain NS 4.7x, NS6 and NS 7 on my ssystem simply to verify sd browser compatibility. But as far as issues with making something work with it -- forget it. -kw Quote
