I have noticed, when posting topics/replies, that the posting pages have a minor but irritating glitch: Upon my clicking a code button (for italics, etc.), the page jumps down to place the first line of my message at its top.

This is perhaps fairly picayune, but I do find it irritating in that I am then forced to scroll back up to click on the button again (to close italics, etc.). :goof:

Have you tried to just type first then highlight the desired text and click the button

like bold italics and so forth.

and as to clicking the italics button before and after, I just did,

and it works.

I wonder what browser you are using, I did this with IE6

Don,

1. Thanks for the suggestion regarding first highlighting the word and then applying italics. Unfortunately, that also does not appear to work, on my browser, at least; the "" appears after the last word typed so far, and the "" appears not at all. And the page still jumps.

2. I'm using Internet Explorer 5.16 for the Macintosh. And sadly I can't upgrade: According to Microsoft, this will be the last version of IE for OS9. :goof:

I suppose this means I'll just have to live with it(?).

Boojum, its a little more work and typing but it works. Instead of using the button for italics just manually type in the code before and after the text.

the "code" is [command], thats brackets before and after and "I" to start and "/I" to end italics.

BoB - (manually typed)

Thanks, and I will now confirm that this works in my browser as well, as I would expect it would.

But I still think there's an annoying, albeit minor, glitch here; one ought, I think, to be able to use the code buttons with any current browser.

I had a feeling it would work in any browser. :goof:

I agree its an annoying "bug" and I imagine it has something to do with your older version of IE. You have three choices. You can try and tell Invision about it and see if they can upgrade their BB software. You can complain to uncle Billy and see if he'll fix it (fat chance).

Or you can use this little work around. I think you are stuck my friend. :goof:

Thanks for the codes, Dick!

Boojum, there are also keypresses for the formatting codes. For example, if you put the cursor over the bold button the text under the buttons says "Insert Bold Text (alt +" I believe you guys with macs have apple or command buttons but whatever you use that's like the PC's ALT key may work for you too.

Too bad about Microsoft's policy to leave slightly old things in the dust but I can kind of understand it too. Costs and all that.
