n2access Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 I need to offer an Internal Only Email service to a school I'm working with so that students will only be able to send and receive mail internally. At the same time, the faculty needs to be able to send and receive Email on the Internet. I have a previous post on this forum about the possibility of setting this up in Cpanel but have had no responses yet. My second choice is to send the MX records to my itsy bitsy server in my office and use iMail for messaging. iMail has the ability to categorize email in the way that I need. This would leave the hosting for the web site at TCH and transfer the MX records to my server in the office. In the Cpanel Mail tab, there is a way to change the MX record from mail.domain.com to something else. However, I want the name of the mail server to remain mail.domain.com. I just want to redirect that domain name to a different IP address located at my office. Does anyone know how to do this? I love TCH. Jerry Quote
TCH-Rick Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 To do this there would need to be changes to the DNS Zone of the domain and a couple of other server files. Changing the MX this way would basically remove mail functions from the server for the domain. Submit a Help Desk request if you need to do this and we can take care of it. Quote
