quasoft Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 I'm desperate with emails such as "STOP PAYING", "FINANCIAL Independence" and so on, but I do not understand at all the instructions on the Cpanel 6 Mail Menu, so could anyone please explain to a 6 year old boy how to ban "subjects"? I don't want to ban addresses because they change all the time, I just want to ban "SUBJECTS". But I can't understand the instructions to set up certain subjects as spam. Many many thanks Quote
Lianna Posted November 22, 2003 Posted November 22, 2003 Click on E-Mail Filtering Click on Add Filter Select first Drop down option: Subject Select second Drop down option: contains Type in the next field: stop pay Leave default destination: Discard Click Activate Click Go Back Change the subject of the test e-mail to something like "You can stop paying high interest" Then click Test Filter You should receive verification that the filter condition was TRUE. That means that it discarded the message. Like: Filter Trace Results: Condition is true: $header_subject: contains stop pay Return-path copied from sender My advice is to be very careful with the wording that you choose to enter in the field for your filter. If that text appears anywhere in the subject of any email, it will discard it. I certainly wouldn't use a filter containing the word funny for example. I get plenty of mail from my sister that she claims is funny. While I don't think they are necessarily, , I still don't want to lose the mail. See? Any other questions, just ask. Quote
quasoft Posted November 22, 2003 Author Posted November 22, 2003 Lianna, that was really easy, thank you so much for your great help. Cheers José Quote

I think the filters are case sensitive, which is sorta a pain. Granted, it is not nearly so much of a pain as the attempts at avoiding word filters, a la vi.ag.r.a or v1agra. etc. Quote
quasoft Posted November 27, 2003 Author Posted November 27, 2003 Thank you very much toddcurry, I see what you mean by that and I'll be careful with the wording. Many thanks, José Quote
KevinW Posted November 27, 2003 Posted November 27, 2003 I went ahead and added Lianna's instruction along with the case sensitivity warning to the TCH Help Web site. Check it out! -kw Quote
