Well, if you're asking from a SEO point of view, I'm not sure. I think Scott is the best person to answer that for you.

From a web-programming point of view, IMHO, using the short form has some advantages, because that way, if someday you decide to change your domain name, the links will still work.

On the other hand, using the fully qualified URL (the second option) has the advantage that if for some reason you change the directory where the file containing the link resides, you won't need to adjust it as you would if you used the short form URL.

So I guess in the end, it depends on these factors. You have to think about what you will be doing to your website in the future and decide which one to use based on that.

So that's my opinion... but I think you were looking for an SEO point of view, right?

Yes, but I was also looking at it from a design point of view. I guess since either way will take visitors to the page, I should probally focus on the SEO part.

But if you're using frames on your website, then I'd suggest using the whole URL otherwise it will only show partial content when someone finds you through via search engine.

No frames, I have tried my best to stay away from frames. I have used all tables. To be honest I'm new at this and not sure what the difference is. I just have read so many things that say tables are better than frames.

From an SEO point of view:

CONSISTANCY (on all links). This is very important and we have discussed it on several threads. When I say consistency, I mean to always use the same URL to refer to a given page.

As far as your example, I choose the shorter version myself.
