Just wanted to warn anyone that uses E-bay to be very careful when getting an E-mail that appears to be from E-bay and asks for your username and password in order to "verify" your account. E-bay doesn't ask for that information in E-mail.

The E-mail asks you to go to a page that looks EXACTLY like the My Ebay log in page and enter your information. But if you look at the URL it obvious the page isn't an Ebay page, first and foremost it isn't thru a secure connection, all Ebay pages that require a username and password are secure, plus the URL is just wrong.

I've already contacted the company the domain name is registered with as well as Ebay, just wanted to make everyone aware of the scam.

Thanks for the heads up Mike, apparently there is also a similar typoe scam going on with Paypal.

None of these consumer sites ever send out emails asking for your personal info in that manner, so if you get anything from anybody asking to verify personal info, it's usually a scam tactic.

Also there is a "Microsoft Patch" email that is going around that is actually a means of spreading a virus. There was an article about it on Yahoo last night. You can check it out: Worm Comes Disguised As Windows Warning

I tell ya, these people will try by any means to mess around with unsuspecting computer users.

Shame on em!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Yeah, I got the Microsoft patch scam 3 times yesterday alone at work. Fortunately the email server filters .EXE files so there's no chance our users can run it. The funny thing is that the first letter of the first sentence is not capitalized and the bottom says the typical "all copyrights owned by their respective companies" but the only thing mentioned is Microsoft stuff!

I bet if the virus folks put their brains and energy to good use we'd probably have a cure for cancer by now! As it is I just want to line them up on a wall and blast 'em!
