haltoc Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Hi! I'm a new member of the TotalChoice hosting family and so far the experience has been a good one, so thank you for that. However, I've encountered a problem with phpBB install. I log into cPanel and select the Bulletin Board-option. So far I've tried to install a board three times, resulting in three non-working boards. When I try to go to the newly created board, I get an 404 error, stating: "The requested URL /<forumname>/install/install.php was not found on this server." All three boards were installed in the root of my public_html, so there shouldn't be anything I screwed up during the install. (the reason I tried it three times was because at the first time the DNS wasn't working yet, and after that I tried on two separate browsers, Opera 7.11 and IE.) Any suggestions as to what to do? I haven't dropped a helpdesk ticket just yet. EDIT: Just to add, the install notes in the phpBB install screen contain nothing. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 Haltoc, Please do drop us a help ticket and please if possible state the server your on, we should be able to get this fixed for you Jim Quote
haltoc Posted August 21, 2003 Author Posted August 21, 2003 Okay, I'll drop a help ticket with the server details, thanks Quote
granster Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I had the same experience and also dropped a ticket. I'm thinking however of dropping another ticket saying never mind because I did get Invision to work and since I really don't know much about either it probably doesn't matter to me. On the other hand, I would like to try Phpbb and see if it might be better for my purposes. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 If you do want to drop another help ticket saying this, then please do so Jim Quote
joshleejosh Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 I also had problems installing PHPBB. It looks like the install/ subdirectory is missing from whatever tarball cpanel installs from. I was able to download a fresh copy from http://phpbb.com/ and that worked fairly painlessly. Quote
Head Guru Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 With the current upgrade of cPanel we are presented with this new bug. Phpbb simply will no longer install using the cPanel auto installer. This is simply a bug in cPanel and not in phpbb and I assume will be corrected in the next release of cpanel. Bill Quote
