mike Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 (edited) There is a small heatsink next to the processor fan that I believe is the chipset north bridge(?). It is held down by two spring loaded "pins" on diagonal corners. One of them is missing and the pc will no longer boot. I am wondering if that missing pin, which causes the little heat sink to by "away" from the chip it sets on, has caused some sort of overheating disaster? Thanks in advance Tch ers Edited November 18, 2009 by mike Quote
Head Guru Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Most likely the bridge is overheating due to this. I would attempt to affix some cpu cooler on the chip and reset the cooler. See if this helps at all. Quote
mike Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 Thanks, Bill. That's what I thought. But, I didn't try the resetting. I will try that and see if it can be saved. thanks. Quote
