I'm sure I'll be adding more questions to this, but I'm gonna throw these out here to start :) . For reference, all questions within here pertain to dedicated server policies, not shared.

1.) I'm 99% sure that your dedicated servers can be used as a reseller account, can you verify this?

2.) I completely agree with your AUP and zero tolerance policy on spam. One of my concerns however is that if I was to have a customer that was spamming on a small scale, or sharing copyrighted material etc. that my account would be immediately terminated and I would be charged $500 per your terms and conditions on the site. While I would certainly make a best effort to prevent any of that activity, things do slip through. Would I be given a chance to rectify the situation before I was termed, or would it be an instant ender regardless?

3.) SSH is not available on your shared servers. I'm sure I know the answer to this already, but is there any chance it's available on dedicated servers?

4.) If SSH is not available on your dedicated servers, I noticed that your unmanaged servers do not offer software installation assistance. Some applications of course require shell access to install. How would I go about installing these without a managed server or SSH access?

5.) I know reseller accounts come with 2 dedicated IP's for private name servers, would I be able to obtain these for a dedicated server used as a reseller account? I would be willing to pay, but I haven't been able to find a price for it on your site.

6.) Is SFTP available?

That's all for now. I've had numerous sites hosted on TCH over the years, and any website I build for family or friends gets put on the starter package until they need more. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a dedicated server :)

Welcome to the forums Spartan :)

I will answer these to the best of my ability. You can also get answers to your specific questions by opening a ticket on the help desk to sales.

1.) I'm 99% sure that your dedicated servers can be used as a reseller account, can you verify this?

Yes, a dedicated server can be used as a reseller account.

2.) I completely agree with your AUP and zero tolerance policy on spam. The AUP applies to all servers. But TCH will work with you to rectify the issue before terminating your account.

3.) SSH is not available on your shared servers. I'm sure I know the answer to this already, but is there any chance it's available on dedicated servers?

As far as I know SSH is available on a dedicated server.

4.) If SSH is not available on your dedicated servers, I noticed that your unmanaged servers do not offer software installation assistance. Some applications of course require shell access to install. How would I go about installing these without a managed server or SSH access?

See response to #3

I would verify this with the help desk but I believe you would get them.

6.) Is SFTP available?

Secure FTP is available.

Yes, in fact we can set you up with special reseller discounts if you purchase more than one dedicated server.

We work with our resellers. If you host a spammer, we would work with you to terminate the account of the spammer, but not your account.

3.) SSH is not available on your shared servers. I'm sure I know the answer to this already, but is there any chance it's available on dedicated servers?

SSH is available on all dedicated servers.

4.) If SSH is not available on your dedicated servers, I noticed that your unmanaged servers do not offer software installation assistance. Some applications of course require shell access to install. How would I go about installing these without a managed server or SSH access?

We are pretty flexible on our unmanaged servers. If you need help installing a software application or need help with security updates, as long as your requests are reasonable we will normally handle these for our resellers at no cost to them.

5.) I know reseller accounts come with 2 dedicated IP's for private name servers, would I be able to obtain these for a dedicated server used as a reseller account? I would be willing to pay, but I haven't been able to find a price for it on your site.

Each server comes with 5 IP Addresses. If you need more they are typically free as long as you can provide justification.

6.) Is SFTP available?

SFTP can be setup up on our dedicated servers, this is not a problem.

Thank you for your business.
