melbage Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Can someone fill me in on the ins and outs of streaming audio on my site? Quote
TCH-Andy Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 Hi, What are you after streaming? The simplest is just to upload the audio files to your site, and provide a link to them, then watch as it starts to use up your bandwidth Or were you after information on which types of audio files are best? melbage Posted August 11, 2003 Author Posted August 11, 2003 are you saying all I have to do is store a song (or a few) at total choice and link to it? You also said something about bandwdith--what format is best and uses the least bandwidth? What do you recommend. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 Well, .wav is out of the question unless it is only a few seconds of sound. Wou could use .mp3 or .ram and get good compression out of a longer file. Remember, the smaller the file the less bandwidth used for each download. You either own or have permission to use the sound file correct? Quote
boxturt Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 You either own or have permission to use the sound file correct? Very important indeed! Music Match has a nice free compression utility built right into it for .mp3 files. Real Player (.ram) files don't need further compression. You may want to look into an anti-leeeching program for audio files as well. A real nice and easy to use "jukebox" can be found here . It has anti-leeching built in as well. Quote
