Lianna Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Wow, well let's see how many of these I can knock out right fast: 1 - SSL (listed at web-hosting-plans.html) - its included on listed plans ? means i can have https://my_domain.com at no extra charge ? No, the shared SSL will have a url like totalchoicehosting.com/~your username. To have SSL for ******, you need to purchase a certificate and have it installed (that is an extra charge). 2 - SSH - whats the diference between JailShell and a standart shell ? JailShell is a safer shell access and the only one allowed by TCH. 3 - what are the restrictions to use SSH ? for example, i use SSH for all kind of services, like tunneling (port forwarding pop, smtp, database access mysql), SCP or ftp under ssh. Moving from other host i need continue with this services. What is the waranty you dont drop SSH access ? I can't answer that one. Someone else? 4 - How many parked domains can i assign to a account ? You can park domains on top of your account provided that they will all resolve to the same website. As to a limit in number, I'm not sure off the top of my head... 5 - can manage park domains myself ? need whm ? No, you need to request that it be done via the helpdesk. 6 - Cpanel, WHM and webmail access are under https:// ? cPanel and webmail can be accessed via https or http. WHM is https only. Please note that only a reseller account is given WHM panel. 7 - the $10.00 fee (to enable SSH) is valid for my all domains (reseller or not) ? $10 fee is per domain 8 - can i configure a special Cpanel with just the email management functions to allow a customer or employee access just that functions ? No, the cPanel application is installed at the server root level and is the same for every account on the server. 9 - what is your maximum time of response on Free Tech Support ? While normally tech support requests are handled within hours, there is a 24 hour max. Hope that helps address most of your questions! Thanks for considering TotalChoice Web Hosting! Quote

Can someone confirm ? - Q7 - really dont like this, but ... - Q8 - hummm ... cpanel is skinable. Are you sure about your answer ? Quote
TCH-JimE Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 (edited) Hi, Q3 - Jailshell access only. There is no warranty that we will drop SSH but we know how much customers depend on it so unless something serious was to happen, I dont think we would drop it. Please give a complete list of what you want to to with SSH and then we can tell you. Q4 I believe the limit is 3 on web hosting accounts. Resellers I believe is upto you. Remember they must all point to the root of the directory. Q5 If not using a reseller account, you must submit a help desk ticket for this. With reseller, I believe you do it yourself. Q7 $10 is per domain. For reseller accounts I am not sure Q8 Cpanel can not be skinned by the reseller user. You can add your own logo to the top though. As a side note to Q1 SSL is given free to all web hosting accounts as Li said. However if you have a reseller account, you can not use the shared SSL for the reseller accounts you create Jim Edited August 14, 2003 by Jimuni Quote
axel Posted August 14, 2003 Author Posted August 14, 2003 Hi Jim, Q3 - SSH is important for me and my customers because many services work under a SSH tunnel (or port forwarding) like pop, smtp, mysql, ftp and scp. See any restritions ? Q5 - you believe, or you are SURE ? (maybe a little difference, but ...) Q7 - need more acurate answer. I need setup SSH almost domains/accounts in my future re-seller plan. Q8 - yep ! Europe/Uk servers - at moment i have some hosting accounts in US hosting servers and im looking for european alternatives. All my customers are europe based companys. I see your are UK, so i jump to the conclusion your company have hosting services in UK. Sorry. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 Hi, We have servers in datacenters in Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Georgia and Texas. You can find out more here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/about-we...eb-hosting.html and you can find out why we do this: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/id1...tm#june_30_2003 So you can see that at present, TotalChoice web hosting is not here in Europe, even though AndyB, Alan and myself are based here in the UK. (Does mean that we can give customers the best support!) The rest of the questions I shall leave to Bill as its his final decision on wether SSH access can be granted to a user. He can then answer the other questions too. Jim Quote
