Hi everyone.

I'm having a little problem with a client's MySQL database.

I have a database named 'bestalm_test' which I want to delete and so I went into CPanel's MySQL manager and press the "Delete" link next to it's name but then I get the following error:

Deleted the database bestalm_test /usr/bin/mysqladmin: DROP DATABASE best-alm_test failed; error: 'Can't drop database 'best-alm_test'. Database doesn't exist'

I think the problem is that CPanel created the database with a prefix other than the 'best-alm' username - it created a database named 'bestalm_test' instead of 'best-alm_test' - and when trying to delete the database, it is putting the username before the suffix, so it's a bit of a mess...

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a simple way to fix it?

Thanks in advance :P

Borfast,

As far as I'm aware I think there is a problem in cPanel with names that include dashes, as yours does "best-alm". cPanel are working on the issue and hopefully will have updated things in the next release.

Have a look at

or if you want to look at exactly the same problem you have

I'll have a look to see if I can find a workround.

Thanks Andy, I'm reading those threads now :)

Oh, and don't worry too much about this, it's really not a problem at all. I just posted it here because I thought perhaps someone knew an easy way to fix it.

Let the Cpanel folks fix it and when TCH updates CPanel, I'll handle it :)

The easiest fix is to change the user name and omit the dash or underscore. That has been done with a few accounts and none are reporting any problems now.
